I recognize the pansy but what is the 2nd one.
Really, really cool looking.
These are just gorgeous!! Yet another thing on my list of things to try, thanks a lot, hee hee hee!!! You really did these beautifully. Perhaps instead of worrying about washing them, you should consider beadwork, other types of embellishment, and sell them as matted and framed artwork. No washing required. And I'd certainly hang one of these on MY wall, for sure. Best of luck with this project, keep us posted. Hugs, Marji
Thanks for your insight...you are right, these would work wonderfully as quilted and framed artwork...and I wouldn't have to worry about washing...but I think it would still be nice to know the limitations...
love your designs and colours, especially the blue, purple and green one.
These are wonderful kaleidoscopes! Well done. I've only printed photographs but this brilliant artwork has inspired me!
i also use this pre treated sheets washes up good
Thanks for the info...I am trying not to use pretreated purchased sheets...way too expensive!
to answer your Question (see below) I gave the things I made away, but do not think that anyone will wash them very much. And yes I used the fabric from Matilda's Own and another lot from Celcast. Then I ran out and used a cotton pillow slip (in a cream colour). Purchased fabric worked best and will no doubt wash okay too, but costs a small fortune.
Thanks for your input...I, too, am trying not to use purchased treated fabric sheets...they are way too expensive...
oh wow! They are so bright and vibrant with color. Sounds like that may hold up from the comments. I don't know which I like better - did you freehand draw these somehow or use a kaleidoscope designer? I ordered the one from EQ but haven't tried it yet. These are beautiful! How exciting!!
Can you give a brief rundown on how you created your wonderful works of art? Did you scan in a design, or use a kaleidoscope creator or any other techniques? We are hungry for information here. I LOVE your fabrics.
You might want to heat set these and let them sit out for a while before attempting any washing. I've done some fabric printing, and found that some colors wash out more readily than others. If I were doing it, I would print a part of an image, or maybe a blooper with all of the colors on it, heat set, and then test wash that. I wish you the best of luck. You are definitely artistic in nature. :)
Oh you are too cool! I want to know everything, did I miss any of your posts on this subject?
These are my first two fabric designs and I am testing the printing process for their wash-ability...not too sure what will happen when I wash them...
Really nice-looks like fun but I don't need yet another 'hobby"!
Your fabrics are beautiful. I have printed on fabric too. I made quilt labels this way but I was not happy with the results after a couple a washings. Keep us posted with your results. I am curious, what are you going to do with these? blocks in a quilt? hugs, Susan
Thanks for the info, Susan...I am hoping that they wash well, but not really sure what will happen...I have no clue what I will do with these samples..depends upon how they look after they are washed...SCARY! I will post the update after they have been washed...keep your fingers crossed!
This is beautiful. I've never been able to get my printer to do such a great job. I'm really interested in your experiment. Please keep us posted.
I printed these on two different printers...I think both did a pretty good job with the colors...It will be interesting to see if there is a difference in how they wash...will one be better than the other due to the inks in the different printers? Time will tell...more updates to come after they have been washed...
I made printed fabric from a site I went on about 4 years ago that used hot water, alum, washing soda, and fabric softener. I dried one outside and one I got hair dryer dried. Then I used iron on stabilizer ironed nice and ran though my printer worked great. I just never washed a ton to test a batch of cloth book marks I made. However I did do again another project out of curiosity and for need of a banner to hang outside for church in weather. It hung out for over a month and several rains. Did fine. I poster printed and sewed the banner together. I love what you have printed here. I also thought of doing something like you have but figured someone would jump and say I did not draw it so I can't do that. So I just never ventured any further. So please keep me posted on your venture. Hugs Mary
Thanks, Mary...sounds like I used a similar "recipe" to yours...sounds like you had good success...I hope I do as well...Got my fingers crossed that they wash well...More updates to come after they are washed...
Thank you Mary for spelling out the ingredients in your recipe for the homemade Bubble Jet Set. I lifted a page taped inside my kitchen cabinet door yesterday and found a post-it note with the ingredients on it, and for the life of me, could not remember what I used it for. I'll label it now, even though I no longer have a color printer.
Beautiful . Did you use PhotoShop? What kind of fabric did you use? Amazing
Thanks...no, I don't have PhotoShop...these test blocks were just done on quilting grade 100% Cotton Muslin....
These are both lovely with vibrant colors! I do hope it works.
Gorgeous designs, you are ready for your own blog....
These are both beautiful. Lovely designs and colours. Pansie's were my Grandmother's favourite flower..
Hugs
They are lovely designs. What will you make with these panels?
I am not sure...I need to test the fabric for washability now...hoping they will come out looking like they did going in!!!
love these i use the bubble liquid and it is great and yes very washable..linda
Thanks for the info on the Bubble Jet..as I said, this is my first rodeo! I was happy with my designs, not all I need to do is insure they are washable...SCARY!!!
These are awesome....I would not know how to even start a project like this.
fantastic idea. I have done the portrait printing from photos, but never thought about this idea. My grand-daughter is an emerging artist and I have told her a few times that her designs would look lovely on fabrics.
Did you use the purchased fabric made for printing or your own...if you used your own...did you treat it with anything? How did they wash? So many unknowns...
