Well,I went shopping for containers/bins for my sewing room and while there, had to run by the fabric department. Here is my find, for today.I got a total of 26 1/2 yards for a sum total, with tax included $26.23 !-I paid from 74 cents to $1.11 a yard, at Walmart. Look at the red stripe on the lower right, some of this could be used at times beside christmas.Where's my shopping Cutie?!!!

My room is a mess again while I am sorting, so it will be a while before I have any fun.

I thought so too, Sue, and now you understand why I have so much fabric! At 'dirt cheap' prices, I can't pass it up.....Now why do you think people started that expression, dirt cheap? Dirt/Land is not cheap!-LOL

Good find. Now that you cleaned up your sewing area you have more space for supplies.

I am trying! I really didn't NEED this but was too good to pass up.I figured my sister may want some or all, as she is doing a christmas quilt and has been looking for xmas fabrics at a good price.

Don't you just love those cardinals, and the poinsettias and those trees are really pretty opened up.

Nice selection and they all blend well together. I do like the leaping deer but it would be hard to choose just one.

I see a couple familiar pieces and was hoping to dig into my local Walmart. You did great! There is not many fabric shoppers that can say they bought fabric about a dollar a yard these days.

Isn't that the truth! I think that is part of my problem, when it's that good,I can't pass it up, now really, who would? I guess that is why I have so much.I have folded and packed a great deal today and I am tired.I still have a mess, but just found out I won't have the grands Monday, so maybe I will get it back in order, before I go back to school Tuesday.

Yes, because if I can't use it somebody can! I think at this point I will not live long enough to use it all, and I am not planning on leaving for quiet a while!

Thank you....the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem.I admit I am addicted to a good fabric sale.-LOl

Toogie I think many of us have fabric addictions, currently I am trying to use some of my fabric up and not add too it. I have not bought any fabric in a months and boy have I been tempted

I hope I do too, but I may offer some to my sister.I recently got her started sewing again and she is piecing a christmas quilt. She recently retired from nursing and needed an outlet, something to occupy her time, so I suggested quilting. She really is doing quiet well. She already has done 17 blocks and really hasn't been at it that long.I am very proud of her.

Nice shopping trip Toogie! I had gotten some black houndstooth at a walmart 35 miles away but ours doesn't sell fabric either. Our town's precuts are nothing to brag about. We went to a larger town today so got to shop at Hobby Lobby, and they had 30% off their cottons, so I paid about 4.89 a yard, I kept my total under $20. Did you remember to buy your bins? lol!

I did get some containers but they are 3 drawer,on wheels.I am folding my fabrics like Patricia109 said and I am surprised how little room it takes.I have gone through a lot today, but I quit for tonight,I am tired. Before you go to hobby Lobby again, go on-line to their web site. You can print a 40% off coupon, to use on one item, anytime. Was it you that said, you wanted to go shopping with me? Someone said, but I forgot who, that's why I showed my ticket.-LOL

sewilso by sewilso 19 Jan 2014

I didn't say that but I want too also. I did read the comment on this page however, and I think we all want to go shopping together. hahaha! The stores won't know what hit them. Now I want to know how Patricia 109 folds her fabric. Is that here somewhere? Thanks for everything all of you guys!

I made another post, with photos, here in CHAT, with instructions Patricia109 gave.

Lucky you, Walmart here no longer carries fabrics, just precut pièces and to small and expensive to do anything with. Some of these will be terrific any time of the year, happy sewing.

Some of our Walmarts just carry the precut, like you say. They were threating to close all the fabric departments and we all called 1-800-walmart and complained.Don't know if that's why or not but we got our FD back.

Some of those reds would be wonderful for Valentine's day!!! I always shop after Christmas for Christmas fabric. I make Christmas bags for about 3/4's of our Christmas gifts to go into. I simply wrap the gifts with tissue paper and slip it into a bag with casing at the top with a pretty ribbon within the casing. I tie a gift card to it and there you are - all finished!! We always have some gifts wrapped with paper - just cause!!! We had been doing this for about 10 years now and my kids love it especially. That is because it is so easy to wrap a gift!!! At the end of the season - I look over the fabric bags and see if any need to be mended or pressed - I fold and put away for next year. It is green and it is a time saver!!!! Hugs, Laura*

Saves on buying wrapping paper every year and you don't have the mess when they are all opening up.My sister used to do that, but then her kids would take their sacks home and she wouldn't get them back, for the next year.Speaking of Valentines, that's a good idea to use the reds. I don't know why they reduced some of them because like you, I thought they weren't just for christmas.

dailylaundry by dailylaundry 18 Jan 2014

Thank goodness, my kids don't take my Christmas bags home. But my daughter does make them herself. I also make and give many away. Each year I always make more. If you just made two or three a week - you are more than set for the holiday. Great Buy!! Laura

Maybe if I start now with christmas.....but then,I say that every year, and put it off.Seems like when christmas is over, you don't want to sew/emb christmas again.
