My husband made it for me.I will tell him you want one, lol. Let me tell you something funny. A lady friend came with my ex-BIL (he was my BIL over 25 years so we still see him, we didn't divorce him!) Anyway, she came with him right after we finished our house. He had come to look at it and so we were going through the rooms. When we got to my sewing room (she is a non-sewer) she was fascinated with the thread and rack. When I told her Bill made the rack, she just couldn't get over it! When they left, I told Bill, evidently our BIL didn't tell her WE BUILT the house! she would have collasped!-haha

Chris, I just told my husband you wanted a thread rack like he made me.I asked him if he was going to make it and ship it to Australia, because that is where you are from. He said to tell you, he'd make you one, but you will have to come get it!-LOL LOL

I love what you have done with it all! I am sure you will like having the clear containers. I get mine from Costco. They stack well and lock closed. They also fit nicely inside of a closet -- out of the sunshine but at the ready when I need to see what I have.

I am trying to fit it all,or most all of it in this room.I have no closet in this room, so containers have to be out. My room is about 9x10

Well Cuties,I am back to load more photos. These are BEFORE photos. THIS IS A WARNING for michemb, pennifold, highlander and any other Cutie, that has never been in this shape.-LOL I took all the fabric off of 1 bookcase, so I could get my books out of boxes and off the floors, and use the case for it's purpose. So I had to put the fabric on the bed and dresser until I can get some clear bins (going in the morning).I want to change out all the bins and boxes I have now for those clear ones. Anyway, I want you to see, the bookcase with fabric is covered up with a sheet in first photo.I also want you to see, that machine cabinet that my serger is on here.It was my moms.It still has her Singer drop-in disc sewing machine, in it.She was in a wheelchair since she was 40, and notice how she scratched all the front of the cabinet up.It still sews perfectly. The next photo is the sheet off, the bookcase with some fabric.WARNING!The last 2 photos are the fabics OFF the bookcase! I had my dresser piled once before, with fabrics that a retired quilter gave me.That stach is now in my guest room closet on shelves, so here I go again.See those 2 clear bins in between the sofa and dresser? That is reds and blues, from the quilter too.It would't fit on my shelves with the rest from her.Going back to the 1st photo here.I got that camo knit, standing against the bookcase from a place going out of business.I made a baby drawsting gown and hat with the baby's name in hunter orange thread.Parents were pleased. I do hope everyone is alright, after seeing my mess.WHEN I get fabric done do you want to see, or have you had quiet enough?-Lol Toogie

Love your room! Sounds like we have the same book collection! I, too, have loads of Martha Pullen's books and years and years worth of Sew Beautiful Magazine. Hmmm sounds like an episode of Hoarders, yikes! Love the fabrics you have stacked in the corner...

Thanks about the room.I love my older SB but not so much now.I am thinking of not renewing my subscription come Feb.As for as the fabric bolts .I counted 22 stacked.See those wrapping paper bins they are on? They have bolts in them and there are 3 (one has lid off, under the table.)there are 23 more in them.If you want to show your husband how bad I am, so you will look good to him (lol), I don't mind.....mine already knows how bad I am-LOL

I wanted to say my smocking pleater is on the top right shelf, of the right bookcase, behind the yellow container. The wooden box it is sitting on is for my pleater threads and the wooden box with the cord wrapped around is a light box, my husband made me.

lol! I love it!

sewilso by sewilso 18 Jan 2014

It shouldn't take long to get it all straight, the fabric should be easy, everything else is perfect. When you're done, come over and analyze my space please. Hahaha!!!

Would like to know if there is a problem with stacking fabric in bins? The only problem with mine in bins is they are not in with me in my sewing area. I have to store them in the garage, need a few family members to move out. Happy Stitching

toogie by toogie 18 Jan 2014

Patricia are you 109 or 103? I got a pm from Patricia109 about how to stack.I thought I answered you either there or in anothers post.I am sorry if I didn't tho.Yes,I asked you if you made 2 rows, side by side, with the bin laying on it's end? Or do you fold the whole width of the end and do single stacks? That is a good tip. Also, you don't fold around any cardboard ,do you?

toogie by toogie 18 Jan 2014

Brendalea-mine are moved out but they don't take everything with them, but you can only hope.-LOl At least I'm not in the garage yet, so I guess there is hope for me too!I have had fabric in bins for a long time,no problem, but is your garage heated/ac? I would watch/look. If it gets cold then warms up, the plactic MIGHT sweat and cause your fabrics to get damp and maybe mildew.Feel the bottom of the inside bin.I know your space is limited , that's why they are out there right, but just check and make sure all is well, don't want to scare you.-Toogie

I love your room color .See you got lots of plastic bins they are handy and noticed your got lots of tomatoes. I just made another pin holder. Love your shelf's. I used to have tons of magazines and ran myself into a corner with them so I sat and scanned projects of importance and got rid of tons of magazines and that freed me up more room. Believe me I am a rat packer as the saying goes. I feel like I got to visit you today. Nice job on your room and looking forward to your projects. hugs Mary

Mary,I am so glad you came by today, for a visit with me! I like the color of my room too, but thank you for noticing. These bins,I already had.I want to change them out for some clear ones, that I can see in.I will use these in the attic for xmas storage, I have things up there in boxes that are falling apart, so they will still be used.My tomatoes I got 3 for xx of course for a good price-LOL usually have one at each station. My shelves are 2 bookcases,I got at Walmart, 8 years ago, for $20. each.As for as my books, well. I seem 'comforted' to have them.I love my old Martha Pullen 'Sew Beautiful' mags (with pullout patterns) not so much the new mags and I have her hardback Heirloom Sewing for Jack and Jill, among all the others. Can't part with them as I still use.I think my pack-rat is evident with my fabric amount.I don't know when I'll start the next sewing/emb project, guess we will see how long it takes me to organize all the fabric.I want to finish this first.By the way, when you were here today, you didn't by chance peep in my guest room, did you? Oh good,I knew I didn't have to give you CPR-lol

I am in the car with hubby but I will shock some with the mess of fabrics off the shelf, if I show it-lol it's neat now Pam cause I haven't started sewing again

justsew by justsew 19 Jan 2014

it is difficult to try to keep fabric neat, and how many of us have a neat room and how many a messy room, and how many have no room at all. as long as we are happy, that is the important thing.
