Reading Beatie58's comments on the heat in Australia leads to this...

Where I live we are having a huge amount of rain and high tides driven by wind have caused much damage. The village had to be evacuated last night and my daughter and her family came to us for the night. I have just taken her and her sons home. Luckily I had my wellies in my car as the house is surrounded by water. I was then able to carry the boys inside. (Someone had sandbagged the front door in their absence). My son in law had gone ahead and seen that all was OK before he went off surfing. Driving through the village there were quite a number of surfers making the most of the huge waves. while those in our cars were carefully avoiding the boulders that had been driven off the beach, down the passages and onto the road. I have not seen the village so affected by the sea in the 35 years we have lived here. My thoughts are with all those who have been badly affected by the storms.

Wow, sounds like you have been through quite the ordeal. It seems that many areas of the world are experiences record breaking weather. I hope your forcast improves and the worst is over.

The force of water is great. So happy that you were able to give them a safe place to stay and hope they have no water damage.

I have seen on the national news the problems you are having. I do hope the house stays dry. Flooding is a total devastation with removing sheetrock and such. I hope your son-in-law didn't meet any of the boulders in his escapades. Prayers for all of you

Hi Sally, the house is surrounded by water to a depth of 2-3". We are just hoping that the bad weather forecast for the next few days is not as bad - if that makes sense. There was just lots of clearing up today throughout the village and surrounding areas and in many other parts of the UK too

I hope the worst is over and that your daughter does not have much damage. I saw the pictures on the news - horrible. And so many coastal areas are effected.
Those surfers must be out of their mind!

I too hope the worst is over, when I left their house I met the fire engine rushing through the village. When I spoke with my daughter later she said that it was behind the house pumping the water away

I hope it has calmed down by now and everyone can get back to normal. Those surfers are just crazy!
BTW I spotted the first snowdrop out in the garden this afternoon, but it was raining too hard to go out and take a picture!

I thought you meant the flower ( bulb that flowers in spring) just too much hot weather to think straight.LOL.In the local paper this morning there were photos of a jetty underwater because of king tides & rain run off ,making it hard for passengers getting of the ferry ,over here
