Last night, I did a foolish thing. I offered a design in the projects section if people PMed me their email address. I have, so far, sent it 50 times! (I may not risk it again.)

What has interested me though, is to analyse those requests. Most were made very politely which is a good start.
What amazed me was that several obviously new members (no flowers) managed to work out how to send me a PM when others who have been around for longer still can't do it. Another interesting point was that most of them had not made a comment in the projects section, but had gone direct to PM.
Worrying (and a nuisance to our lovely moderators) was that quite a lot of people published their email address in the projects thread.
I do wish there was a good way of communicating how the site works to all members.
The bottom line is that it makes me feel quite good that people from all over the world now have my design to play with. I wonder if they will all use it and post a picture in Projects.

I have just been catching up as my yahoo emails were not working yesterday. Another 20 messages are now on their way. Unfortunately a few have bounced back, and there are still a few who sent me PM without telling me their email!

Sue, I love what everyone is doing with your design. I think you have created several addicts. :). I look forward to making some myself. Becky

Sue, I thought you would be inundated with requests - happened to me in the past as well.
What I learned from the first one was to make a zip-file of all requested formats (easy in Embird manager) and put everyone in one email (as BCC), that saved a lot of time sorting out who needed which format when I made such an offer again..

Your design is being used - projects is showing how many people already used it. That's a great feeling, isn't it.

It is indeed!
I have made up a zipped file with the formats and the instructions and BCC is my best friend! Sending them individually would have driven me completely round the bend!
Our internet was on a go slow yesterday and emails not working at all so I have so,me catching up to do today.

Sue, I sure would like to have your instructions for the octagon in-the-hoop project, but I don't know how to contact you so that I can personally email you. As you suggested, I hesitate to put my email address here in my request. How can I send you my email address so that I can get the instructions? Thank you so much! Carol

Sue thankyou for your 'Octagonal thingy' I thought that I would thankyou in here instead of filling your email box.
I have been a member since sometime in 2007 I think it was. Once when you clicked on a user name you had information that they gave out like country, town, likes & the date when you first signed in.
Sue you may have upto 300 requests as that is around the number that vote for a design. It is very thoughtful of you to take on a lot of work to save Veronika a lot of work when doing maintenance.
THANKYOU. wendy

Dear Sue. I am feeling bad right now. I am here not as much as I used too. I very rarely look at Projects or Freebies. I only managed to post in Projects once last year, but I care very much about this site, the Cuties, talented digitizers and our patient moderators. I give lots of flowers, try to answer questions as much as time allows me. Sadly I have rarely expressed my appreciation for all you and others do. This peeked my curiosity and checked what this was all about. And now I am off sending you a PM. THANK YOU for all you do for this site.

Sue it was not a foolish thing it was a kind and generous gesture and I look forward to seeing how some of the recipients sew the design out. As for letting all the newbies know how the site works just remember some of 2z or 11c who you spent an age getting them to learn something

Sue, I for one appreciate all you do and so generously offer here at Cute and Yoriko's site. I realized the design is larger than my largest hoop 6x10, but I do plan to try and reduce it to fit. I will post the final results in projects. I've been a member here for years, just don't post much, but read and give flowers. My garden is much smaller that some who have been here only a short time, but I'm not here for flowers, I'm here because I consider each Cutie a cyber sister/brother and enjoy the site and all it offers.
Thanks bunches for all you do for us.
Huggers and *****

Thank you for the design. I received your email with attachment.
I realized that I should have signed my user name for clarity after reading this post. I know that I'm not the only Joan around! Sometimes we don't see past our own noses........ :) I will post a picture when I get home to my machine to sew again which will be early February. I miss sewing so much!

This newbe made a public request for the project and when I went back into the question later I read the answers and found the guide for a pm. I know I am just inquisitive - - so I had a look around the site and saw how to sent a pm. As I said I am inquisitive (or should that be nosey!) whilst others may be more reserved with technology. Anyway I am grateful both to Sue for the project and to those who gave instructions.
Now I'm just off to check my e-mail....

I didn't get in on this goodie, but I have a question Sue... Are y'all able to still list your DBC on the You Embroidery website? If so, how come no one has done this since the other is shut down for "Maintenance"? I don't get on here often enough, I guess to catch a lot that is going on. I do visit some of my friends when I come ;) You are a creative digitizer and I love your ITH things.... Hope you have a wonderful New Year. ;) hugs, Terre

Youembroidery is next to be in "Maintenance" status. It won't do much good to use it right now and will only add to the site work if more designs are added.

Hi, My name is Jen and I'm new to all this can you explain what you mean by sending flowers. I have a small brother machine and just play around in my spare time. You cuties are so talented and generous. I do appreciate all the lovely designs, tips, and help. the community is such a wonderful group of people.

Hi Jen: Welcome to Cute. What is meant by sending flowers is clicking on the flower on the right side of the comments, this will give that Cutie another flower. You are showing as having 173 at the moment. I will click on the 0 beside the little green flower and then you will have 174. Its just a nice way of letting people know you have read their posts.
This is the best group and as you say, talented and generous is so many ways.
Hugs Jerri

I do hope they will show their appreciation by posting in Projects. That is a LOT of work for you to respond to the many requests. That doesn't even add in the work you did to create the design. I do hope people respect all the effort you have put into this design.
I look forward to seeing 50+ different Cuties displaying their newly acquired design.

maggiecal by maggiecal 02 Jan 2014

I've been lurking for months (made a handful of comments, don't think I've put up pics). Was going to put a note in my request email that I promise to send a picture if you send me the design :-) .

rescuer by rescuer 02 Jan 2014

Sue, since becoming a moderator -- I have turned a lovely shade of blue. I think it may be permanent! ;)

Maggiecal, if you post in the Project tab and include the picture of your item stitched out -- then we can all see the lovely work and Sue will have the kind of thanks she loves best -- her digitizing work in stitches and displayed so we all can see it.

highlandermom by highlandermom 02 Jan 2014

Blue is pretty but not bluefaced. We don't need Smuf Cuties. After reading this one. Also Note: As many are aware if you have explorer your picture won't likely work to share. However Google or Foxfire I believe does. Correct me if I am wrong. I now have Google and other as I am determined to check on upload, download, cry for, pray for, laugh with all of you here.

dietcoke by dietcoke 07 Jan 2014

Thanks for sending me the requested octagonal thingy. I do not post very often, but have been a member for quite a few years. I always click on the flowers when I like something. Unfortunately I have been soured from posting on a lot of sites due to doing a google search and finding my name and pictures coming up for all the world to see - not just the forum that I had subscribed to. I appreciate all the hard work that goes into giving a design that is shared, and I often follow links and purchase from individuals. And when I have some spare time I will definately be stitching out this project.
