TIP

I treated my self to a set of Bi-focal glasses BUT I HAD A PROBLEM
When it came to sewing at my machine i just could not see anything,I had to keep tilting my head to get any view at all and this became a bit painful. So how to solve that problem
. This called for the thinking head to be put on.
I solved it. but now have another problem. two of our doors keep closing. WHY? because i have removed the door wedges and placed them under the rear of my sewing machine to tilt it so now i can see perfectly again and its a joy to work, as i can get close to the work as well. Good excuse now to make myself two door stops
UK members can get them cheaply from Wilsons or a pound shop.
PS. even if you do not wear Bi-focal's you will find that you will be able to see your work that much better by tilting the machine.

Please scroll down to the comment left by Katydid to find out the reason why i decided on bi-focal glasses in the first place as opposed to two sepperate (long and short distance) sets of specs.

lol... i had the same problem with my glasses. My solution was to take a couple of books and place under the back of the machine to tilt it to the "right" angle for me to see.
I love the idea of door stops. Especially since they are rubber type material and wouldn't slip around.

get a pair of single lens readers glasses for sewing at the machine. They are also helpful for the computer. Save your bifocals for everything else. I wear trifocals and now I can read the street signs when driving. A whole new level of seeing!!! Kay

Only problem there is i would have to change them to my distance ones to see into the other room at what hubby is shouting at me to look at on the telly, then i have to search for them as i forget where i put them when i changed over I finally find them then put them on only to have hubby shout me to look at whats on telly so i have to take them off to put my distance ones back on,
Yes I could put a cord on both pairs but i would end up garotting myself as the cords get twisted around one another.Much easier to tilt the darn sewing machine

I found I had the same problem when I was prescribed bi-focals years ago. I took them back and said I would rather have two pairs of glasses. But I think I may have to go back to bi-focals now I am getting older. Sure will remember your solution when I do. Thanks Shirley
