Biggest day in the Spring Racing Carnival here in Australia - the running of the Melbourne Cup and it's the first time in years I haven't been to a MC party! Mum has been so ill with Sciatica I had to return my tickets for the luncheon yesterday. And I'm now off to collect Aqualina from pre-school and the race starts at 3.00pm. It's 2.46 - timing sucks! Just having a vent, I hope the best horse wins. Love Chris

Certainly did and wasn't it wonderful for Gai - she deserves it! I bet her Dad - the famous horse trainer Tommy Smith is smiling down on her! Love Chris

I don't know of Spring Racing Carnival in AU. Is it horses or cars. Don't laugh as I am ignorant. Hope you Mum 's nerve condition is better. I suffered many years ago with the same problem and it is no fun. I chose bed rest as to surgery and worked my way through it. Kay

It's a horse race, used to be only Australian horses, now a days it's international... today the first 5 horses were won by international horses. Today's race was won by a Lady Trainer for the first time in history...she is beautiful to, well I think so, her name is Gai Waterhouse...all her family are into horse races one way or another...

Hi Kay,

I mentioned in the last sentence I hope the best Horse wins! It's the biggest horse race in Australia and the whole nations stops to listen to it! I suppose you could liken it to the Kentucky Derby in the USA.

Mum is certainly getting plenty of bed rest and I'm hoping that once she has a needle in her spine next Tuesday it will alleviate the pain. She's had 2 before so she knows it works. She has had to go off of the Aspirin she takes for a week! Love Chris
