Thank you for your thoughts. Thought you might like to see how close the fires came to us. The purple dot is our place and the grey and black areas are the path of the fire.

Wow! Is there any chance it could come back for another round? That looks extremely close. Does your home smell of smoke?

yes there is a chance the fire will come again , tomorrow is going to be a very bad day for the fires ,what with the wind and extreme heat ,there was a little rain today but not enough to do any good,;; nursing homes have been evacuated and all schools are closed in the whole mountains. I am so proud of the students of Winmalee High ,there were 153 turn up for school today ,they all spent the day ,volunteering, with the Salvation Army

I am feeling guilty that I am not there to help out with friends who have lost everything ,if any Aussie cuties have the time ,our quilt group has organized a project to get quilts for each person who has lost a home , with there being 208 homes its likely to be 400 to 500 quilts needed ,we would appreciate any help

WOW! Monika, now that's a close shave. I'm so glad you and Trevor weren't at home when it happened, but the anxiety about now knowing how close it was must have been just as bad. So glad your daughter and friends were able to keep everything cleared away. Still not out of the woods, so to speak, I hear on the radio today about Springwood. I'm so sorry for all those who have lost homes, and those looters - they should be fined, big time! How cruel to do that to someone who has just lost their home. I hope you are all a.o.k! Love Chris

Wow you were very lucky for sure. I just showed Geoff too & he said sh*t too close, but how many of your friends lost theirs.... Sending prayers for all to get through this ordeal & hopefully the worst is over.

Hoping your whole area gets a good dousing of heavy rain very soon to end all of the little hot spots and embers that would like to spring to life again and to calm down all that awful smoky dust that will be filling the air.
I'm so glad that your home is safe but happier still that you and your husband weren't anywhere near the fires. Worrying is bad enough but being there would be so much worse.
