Backyard renovation. We needed to replace the brick planter boxes and we wanted to update the aggregate concrete look but keep as many plants as possible.

First 3 pictures are before. The first two are where my firefighter would work out. (By the way, dropping weights on concrete will break it.) I wanted to keep some open space here but make curves and update the look with stamped concrete.

The 3rd picture is looking the other way down the yard.

The last 3 pictures are the work in progress. Bender boards are in place for the new planter boxes and I have to show them what I don't like by tomorrow morning or that's the way it stays. I really want to work on the curves for the last picture.

New lines today.
The cement is poured for the retaining wall footings, no going back now.

Remember to make the curves by grass easy for the mower to be used around them, I once put in a garden and forgot to take the lawn mowing into consideration, now I always look at it and think I must change it as it is awkward when doing the mowing!

It is going to look amazing. Just love the way the eye follows the curve. Please keep the pictures coming. Sarah.

I can understand what you're saying about the curves in the last picture. Is that a crepe myrtle? The curve by it (from the looks of the picture) needs to be different. It's going to be a beautiful backyard!

I think it's a crepe myrtle, I'm not that good on tree names and the landscape was done before I moved in. We have 3 or 4 of those back there..
I think I'm going to bump the curve in the front of the picture out to the left as far as the back one then straighten the back curve completely. The right indent is where the BBQ goes.

That's an orange tree on the left but you can't tell because the oranges are green right now. Behind the trees is the raised garden with a lot of tomatoes right now.

It's going to be beautiful. I know you're excited to get it finished. I can't wait to see the pictures.

look forward to seeing the finished product. I had a reno job done on my yard a couple of years ago. took quite a while, but worth it in the end.
