I learned a long time ago online to keep out of political issues. This is NOT political. It's America at it's BEST. I never knew about this boat lift. And like everyone else I was glued to the TV. At the end you will hear that there were 300,000 rescued from Dunkirk in 8 days. While there were 500,000 rescued from NY in 9 HOURS. This is amazing and a must see. Not ashamed to admit that I was crying at the end.

I couldn't get either to work now. But just go to YouTube and type in 9/11 boat lift. The first on on that page is it.

Well, I feel good and bad about this. Good that so many of you feel the same way I do. Bad that none of us knew about this. Where were the news people during all of this? Off getting the "great" stuff, I think that this is one of the greatest parts of that horrible day. Heck, I'm crying again.

My daughter, Aussie to the core and living in Scottsdale AZ, told me that everywhere she went that day and for some time after, she could feel the togetherness, an almost eerie sensation, like a solid emotion of unspoken support for neighbour, friend, stranger, of the American community members. People, for once, were just people, no differences, supporting people and the empathy that existed was incredible.

I have never forgotten how that day affected her and I wish that togetherness existed everywhere all the time and not just at times of intense trauma.

The American Spirit soared that day and may it stay high forever.

WOW! We can never underestimate the human spirit. To help and love one another as He commanded us to do is what life is all about.

I cried and cried through this presentation and I've got a terrible cold at the moment, so now I can't breathe!, but it's good to see what happened. I never knew about this!!!!

To say thankyou to all of those unknown heroes is a real blessing for me. How awesome for all of those 500,000 people to be transported by boat in only 9 hours. Well done to all of those New Yorkers who helped out in anyway.

God bless you all. Love and blessings Chris, Newcastle, Australia.

We watched and cried and cried. Never knew about this either. Shame. It should have been up front and loud!!!!!!!!!! This is the true American spirit. Thank you for letting us know about this wonderful rescue. I have always been proud of America, but this makes it so much more. I do not see how our First Lady can not be proud of her country when we have people like these. Our people always step up to the plate. Thank God. Yep, that's political.

Wow!!!!! never heard about this, like you said America at it's Best, thank you for sharing it with us. yesterday as I was watching National Geographic, I thought about how many people gave a kiss and hug to their love ones and never saw them again, how many widows, widowers, orphans how many???? I remember that day, trying my students not to find out what was happening but it was impossible they knew something was wrong as they heard how they were called to go to the school office, the line of parents to picked their children up was endless, I was really worry about my own family, there was a rumor about an missing airplane, the news said they were afraid because of Turkey Point (nuclear plant) My home is about 20 minutes from this plant, I could not go home or get in contact with my children I wanted to tell them to stay in school, it was the safeties place to be, at the end thank God it was a rumor, what a day!!!! and the ones following it. We will never forget September the 11th .

As Roosevelt said, A day that will live in infamy. I just hope the future does not forget like happened with 12/7/41. Sad. But we all need to remember these times. We could all kiss our loved ones good bye in he morning and never see them again, but this way is...............

I cried too watching it. I was also crying watching the people I knew who were at the Pentagon helping those who were in the Pentagon when they were hit. And no one has ever said anything but as the military were burying their own dead, our military was also preparing for whatever action would be taken and continued to defend this country.

I saw the video you are speaking of, and I, too, agree, "America at it's BEST"!! Such an outpour of help from every direction by individuals, disregarding their own safety, to help others during a time of crisis is a magnificent gesture!!
Hugs, Ang
