Some of you may recall that my grandson wanted to make a Minecraft quilt. I gave him graft paper and pencil and told him to draw/design what he wanted. From there I took him to the fabric store and he chose his fabrics. We washed pressed and cut the squares out together. Then he started to learn how to sew the squares together. He loved it as he could see it all coming together.

He got busy with his tennis lessons, kayaking and other summer activities, so I'm finishing it for him. He has his 10th birthday on Aug 7th. He doesn't know that I'm finishing the quilt for him. All I need to do on the quilt is to put the binding on. I decided to also make a smaller version of the quilt and turn it into a pillow for him. He's getting a new full size bedroom set for his birthday, so this quilt will be on his bed when they bring him in to see his new bedroom. I'm excited for him to see it all put together.

I love it & what a wonderful introduction to our craft! I know of many men who design & quilt some pretty fantastic quilts & fabric lines too. Well done to you my friend for sharing this with him & well done to him for participating! Hugs Loralye

Learning is for life. I would have loved to teach our three daughters to sew. But nobody is interested. They have other things to do. Lets hope for the grandchildren

What a wonderful gift to teach your grandson how to quilt and create a memory that he will remember as he gets older. That is truly a gift from the heart.
