I just figured it out, place your fingers diagonally opposite & drag them towards the centre .You can see that I don't have any of those latest phones or tablets or I would have known instantly what to do.No instructions for windows came in booklet form either

I believe the windows 8 environment uses gesturing like in the tablets. I will be getting windows 8 on a new laptop next wk- and I believe 8.1 will be out later in august that will fix a lot of the crazy stuff on windows 8
I dont plan to put any of my stuff over on the new laptop till I figure out this whole new way of interacting.
Good luck for you and me too

I am sorry, I should have been more specific. I think you should spend some time watching the YouTube videos on Windows 8. They really can help you learn and navigate your new computer. Pause the video often -- rewind if you get "lost" and re-watch as many times as you need. I am glad you were able to figure it out.

On the other pc which has frozen because it needs a new hard drive I found it was hard to watch videos .I put this down to our internet speed, maybe it will be different on this pc.

Hi Killiecrankie,

I've got a touch screen HP computer too, but I've got Windows 7. I'm not sure if this will help, but if you have a roller ball mouse, hold the control button down whilst moving the roller ball backwards and forwards until you get the desired size. Love and blessings Chris

I have Windows 8 and no touch screen. Use mouse like you used to.

I use the mouse as well as touching but the whole thing is extremely sensitve & things get touched unintentionally.I suppose practice will help.

Pinch the screen -- OK not really but pinch it in a two dimensional way.
