A question about sorting files. If you have embird (the basic one) is it better to get the addtional iconizer which attatches to it, or something else like sewiconz? What are your thoughts please.

I have embird and iconizer. When I got my vista desktop & Embird wouldn't work I & once I downloaded a design all I could see was the name I found it frustrating as I couldn't sort my files (I did download to each didgatizer) but when u have 3 dogs, which was which, my Janome Customizer worked but not as well. so I kept downloading onto my laptop. to sort & to find files. I now have embird & Iconizer working, not perfect but is usable & I can see what the designs are.

Ah but you forgot to mention it is Vista causing the problem, not Embird. hugs M

I agree with meganne I do not know what I would do without my ;embird It was a godsend I wasn't getting anywhere without it, now I can do pretty anything I want to only I have not taken the needed time to learn how to digitize although I have the program & Kebler's book *4U

Meganne, which group did you join for learning about embird. And does the iconizer allow you to print out your designs so you can look at what you are doing on paper rather than carting the computer about while you are sewing? Any other useful tips appreciated. I think you have swayed my decision as to what I will purchase.

For the price, I went with the SewIconz. It works well and is completely independent of any other program, so you don't have to worry about if one has a problem that it will interfere with the other. I don't know if that would be an issue with Embird, but I have had it happen with other programs.

Thanks cutiepie. Do you use embird at all? You have a good point with problems with one program not interfering with another.

You really do not need buzzexplore if you get iconiser, I have both and vary rarely use buzz I find embird is the best yet

Embird Iconizer is fabulous, the best thing since sliced bread, it has other features that (benefit)work inside the main program and well worth buying especially cheaper from Secrets. Only one problem is currently doesn't work very well with Vista, but then Vista is a problem itself. hugs n roses, M

Thanks for this, if I had asked earlier, I would have been able to purchase embird basic and iconizer for almost the same price as embird basic alone from the embird site. I think I will seriously have a look at this.

The more i use Embird the more I am liking it and i still haven't read the manual, just joined a great group and read all the posts. Embird is worth every penny and it was thouands cheaper than my Elna software, so easy to use. hugs, M

I want to keep all my designs sorted and like the idea of the thumbnail/picture to see what I am looking at without opening up the design. What software if the most effective and value for money??

I use BuzzXplore Embroidery Edition you can convert files to your format from most other design formats I also use it to print a catalogue of my designs you can set it to print as many designs to a page as you like I have 10 to a page also shows colour stops
