Shirlene has answered your Q, so I'll just emphasise, the down side: expect LOTS & LOTS of emails, and if you join in you will be at your pc for many hours each day. The up side: You will make lots of new online friends and if you join a hobby or special interest group you will learn heaps about the hobby or interest. The Bonus: If you are an Expert at your hobby or special interest you will feel wonderful being able to help/teach others.
hugs n roses, M

You can choose not to get any emails from a Yahoo group and only special (urgent) messages from the moderator/owners. Then you must go to the group to read them... that is my preference usually. You can hide your email address (always a good idea) in the Yahoo profile so no one bothers you and you get no ads either. I never banned anyone from rejoining any of the groups I have worked with unless they were kicked out for spamming or being rude of offensive to others.... Some groups can be very helpful... especially if you join one specific to your interests/needs (like the make of embroidery machine you own, the type of pet you have or even software you use or an ailment you have etc). Not all groups are the same, some are very casual, many are full of potential friends but a few are kinda rigid and some with some stuck-up members... but don't let those few poorly run ones spoil the whole idea for you. There are nice ones out there. It just depends on who runs them. If like a group then stay, if not just quit. It goes on every day in Yahoo groups! :)

blackie, most yahoo groups - do have a registration and you have to apply for a membership to their group - so expect that if you leave - they ban you from rejoining - unless you happen to let them know of a real good reason that you are leaving and would want to return in the future. Good luck - expect lots of email or go on digest. *4U
