When i make a project that I really like I usually make more than one. What do you do with stuff you make just because? Mine i put in a big box and if someone needs a pick me up or quick gift they are free to pick and choose what they would like. My box of stuff has a lot of fsl butterflies and zipper bags and just assorted items. Even Christmas ornaments. What is in your collection?

I am afraid that I only make gifts when I need something but I do have a box of blank guest towels that always make a gift special with some embroidery and a name. I think I might just follow your lead and make a few things to have in an emergency. Sarah.

I find a design or in the hoop project I like and usually end up making several. But they must all be different, colors or embellishments. Nothing is ever the same

I must confess that I have several stashes of things I just had to make and don't know what to do with. Making things because they just "spoke" to me and then they don't have a home to go to. Lately, I have been sewing for my sister's two grandbabies and that's keeping me hopping. Motivation helps, and all you give it to me daily! Thanks! --Sandra

I have my daughter and granddaughter who makes sure I dont have anything piling up. They find them useful by giving or selling to their friends or co workers

I don't have extra things. I have such a busy live I hardly can get the time somtimes to sew. Yes I know it is all about making choises. Should I do the garden, or should I learn some Spansh, or such I clean out the garage,... Lots if things I can mention. It is not so easy if you have a full time job. I wish I could sew more, and when I'm sewing I sometimes lose much time in selecting the right colors and fabric. But well as longs as I can enjoy myself..I'm happy.

I donate a lot of my things to several small churches for their bazaars. I tried selling some and that didn't work out well, so decided to donate. Hugs. Nan

I find some embroidery designs that I can't resist trying out different "what ifs" so like you I may make just a few or a lot. I am on my 3rd bin of wonderful hours of designs that do make very nice gifts when we travel and stay with family or just when a friend "needs something". I need the 3 bins because I make gifts ahead like upcoming wedding, babies, graduation, etc. Keeps me from being so behind. OK, I just like it.

I think I need a separate bin just for my butterflies.

Same here Bev. I have a plastic container with all the things I had embroidered, and items I knit in the evening while watching TV. They always find a owner. I don't sell things, but things to give away are not as plenty full as in the past since I started quilting for charity. While sewing the Embroidery machine can be running and that is good. I always need angels

I don't think I have ever sold anything I have embroidered. That would make it feel like a job. I enjoy it much more if I'm not stressed.

I only sell enough to feed my habit.
I have to laugh at that though as it sounds like a drug addiction. LOL
(Disclaimer: I am only addicted to caffeine lol)

crafter2243 by crafter2243 03 May 2013

Lets face it it is a addiction. Sometimes I get a gift certificate to Jo-Ann or Michaels when I embroided something like GD Volleyball team blankets with name. number and a volleyball.

Whatever does not sell is in my box of assorted items as well as those things I just "have" to stitch out just to see if I can do it.
It is a big box LOL

One day I received a thank you note from someone I had never heard of, praising the wonderful knitted baby blanket I had send as a gift? Puzzled I showed the note to my husband and he laughingly admitted that he had gone in my stash of finished items and made a gift to one of his customers. Does your wife have a brother? Ha, ha

I make some things to sell. When I am doing a prototype of something or I don't think it turned out well (machine slipped or something) but are still reasonable I have a container that I use for "bargain bin" items - I sell them for $1 each. They sold like hotcakes last time! Otherwise, I never seem to have enough time to get to more than the things I need for someone.
