Sorry, I didn't realize the jokes where in poor taste...they weren't my cup of tea, so I never read them.
Muffy :)
Muffy, separate sections were set up so that everything wasn't jumbled together and people would have to go through 5 or 6 pages of posts at a time. A lot of us just don't have that kind of time. If you just have time to check on how somebody's doing that asked for prayer, you jump to Personal. If you have time to answer people's embroidery questions, then you can go there. When you want to go see all the Birthday wishes for the day, you can do it in one place. It saves a great deal of time, and lets those of us who can only get on for maybe 10 minutes at a time a few times a day actually see a lot more posts. And, if you really don't care about who needs prayer, or who's having a birthday, or if you don't collect freebies, then yes indeed you can skip those categories. Actually, jokes were never part of the vision of an embroidery site, but as long as they were posted every once in a while, that was no problem. Then, there seemed to be a contest to see who could post the most jokes in one day, and there were pages and pages of them. And then, they started to get raunchy and offensive sometimes. The moderators were getting at least 10 messages a day complaining about jokes being offensive. We really have enough to do without reading several dozen old jokes a day and passing judgement on them. People were asked to keep them within bounds of good taste, they didn't, so the jokes went. It's the same old stuff people send to each other in their e-mails anyway, I'm sure they can trade addresses and continue to do that. There's even sites that will send you a joke a day in your e-mail. We can do without them on an embroidery site. As to your question about the freebie section, I don't know what you mean. What isn't ok?
I think it was the off colour and inappropriate jokes which caused the problem. The purely fun ones were O.K.
