Mouthwatering Dish(washer):

Ingredients-Salmon Parcel:
1 kg salmon fillet (skinned and pin-boned).
Olive oil.
Zest and juice of two fresh limes.
Thumb of Ginger (peeled and thinly sliced into rounds)
N.B. For 02kar - this is a thumb of ginger, NOT a thumb drive.
Coriander (large handful, finely chopped)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper.

Method: Place a double layer of foil, each 75cm square, on the work surface.
Drizzle some oil (Olive) onto the foil and spread evenly over the surface with a pastry brush.
Place the salmon fillet in the centre of the foil square and fold up the edges to form a bowl shape.
Sprinkle over the lime zest and juice, place the sliced ginger on top, and then scatter the Coriander over that.
Season with salt and black pepper as required.
Bring all sides of the foil together, folding and crimping the join to ensure a watertight package.

Place the package onto the top rack of the dishwasher, choose the hottest and longest cycle (the package should cook for about 50 minutes to one hour).
Don't forget to turn the dishwasher ON.
DO NOT add any detergent.

The above method may also be used for the following:
Asparagus parcel
Noodle parcel
Mixed vegetable parcel.

Scrumptious!!

This is a riot!! I had heard about cleaning a bunch of baking potatoes in a dishwasher but not cooking a meal!! Don't forget the old college meal - Grilled Cheese with an iron!! Yum!! Hugs, Laura*

You must have gone to the same college as me, where the iron was also used for toasting bread and cooking bacon (no steam though as it made the bread go soggy).

Wow, this is interesting. I have never heard anything like this before. I will have to stew on it for awhile.

I have done this method for years and have never been disappointed. People look at me like I am nuts, but I tell them, try it before you think I'm crazy.

I think I better wait until the "rinse aide" is empty before I try this method. I do love salmon.

Was baking baked potatoes for an event and used the dishwasher to wash the dirt off (no detergent of course). The foil packets work for chicken. A chief was making dinner when the oven/stove would not work so he put a foil packet in the dishwasher for a couple cycles. If you have a waffle maker I have used it to make cookies. When my kids were little I could take it out on the patio and watch them and make them cookies to snack on. Make the cookie dough a little thinner like the consistency of pancake batter and I dropped dollops on just the right size for little people.

Thank you for the information. You never know when the only working appliance in the house is the dishwasher and you have salmon available and everyone is hungry. Not even in my dreams. Hubby won't eat fish though he does get hungry.

That is a new (to me) use for a dishwasher!
Here -- we just use an oven, barbecue, grill, or open fire pit. It never even crossed my mind to cook fish in the dishwasher.
Thanks for the pointers on thumbs and dishwasher detergent. lol

Ah gee, I was hoping to be able to multi-task and do the dishes at the same time. And thanks for reminding not to add a thumb drive. After all, it has already been washed.
