I wonder what Faberge would think about this! Just as lovely as his work. But way beyond what I would do.

I have a friend who paints of her Emu eggs. They're bigger and easier to handle. But this is just fantastic. I'd probably kill if somebody broke mine!

haveing done this work on egg shells i can say that it really is not as difficult as you may think, the holes are all pre drilled into the shell following a simple line drawing using a fine tungsten bit in a dremal type drill..Normally a slice of the shell is cut of so allowing accese to the inside of the shell so a needle can used to embroider through the holes. The cut off section can also be embroidered with the pattern showing on the inside of the shell and them it is inverted and glued back into the hole , The cut mark has a fine gold cord or braid glued around it to frame the inverted section and so hiding the cut.
Some eggs can also have a small diorama inside the shell.
I did egg art for 15 years and taught is for free on the internet and had my own group. i was known then as eggyannie. i had to stop when pain in my thimb joints made it difficult to hold the small toolsneeded for some of this work.
I hope this will help you understand the technique used to create this nice piece of work

Wow, thank you for sharing your story. I wondered how you got your name. Mystery solved.
I am sure I am not the only one that would love to see some of your eggs. If you can, please post some. This is a real fine art.

It is amazing; is there no surface anyone will attempt to embroider on? Thanks for showing this.
