Looking around my sewing room, I have so many things started and not finished, either I can not think of the best way to finish it off, or I have wanted to start a new project.

Does this happen to you.?

Is it possible that I might be overlooked if I just murmur, in a very small squeaky, strangled voice, 'yes'????
I would so love to be organised, have a tidy sewing room, use up all my oddment fabrics and give the resulting items away.... out of my sight, out of my sewing room. I've told my daughters to burn the lot once I'm gone but until then I'm hanging on to all the mess and one day I might just get around to using it all. I have such grand plans. It's so easy to be in a fabric shop (there's always time when you're in a shop and no jobs staring you in the face) and think, 'Ooooh, I could make something very nice out of this,' buy a length and take it home. Then, once at home, I have so much to do that I just don't get around to doing anything at all with the purchase. So many dreams are sitting, folded in a waiting heap, in my sewing room. I'll never, ever be at a loss to find something to do.
On the other hand, I don't feel at all guilty, either, for being such a Collector of Fine Stuff..... :}

I believe it is because we are artists and get bored with the non-artistic part of the project...lol!

Yes! Back when I did hand embroidery, I had nearly 20 projects going and decided I couldn't start any more till I finished at least half. I started with the one closest to being finished and proceeded down the line. In about 6 weeks, they were all done because I was chafing at the bit to start 3 more new embroideries! Good luck. After that, 3 was the max. to allow some variety!

I guess i am odd cause the answer is NO i have a quilt not done but its cause i live deep in the bush and need to get to a city a 4 hour trip one way and we can't count on the weather right now .But i don't have more then 2 things not finished .Well only that at this minute.
My Mom would not allow us a mess and i learned early only one job at a time i guess .Sorry i am not normmal !!!!!Whatever normal is lol hugs Carolyn

I am with you on this one Carolyn. I hate mess as well - also have storage problems. Sarah.

You are very good Carolyn, I some times am frightened of spoiling a project because i can not see how I want it to look in the end.

Quite often. Then one day I say to myself it's time you get these UFOs(unfinished objects completed) so I make a list of ea. one. Pick one work on it 'till finished, check it off then start on another one. Sometimes it may take a month if a lot of other things come up. but I stay with it 'till ea. thing is completed and sometimes what I started out doing winds up an entirely different thing. LOL but it's finished and I can go to the next one. I'm still working on things my mom started 20 yrs ago and did not finish. Mostly counted cross stitch items, as I finish them I give to members of the famly to remember her by since she did the most part. She started many many things and did not finish them prior to her death. I do not want to leave that for my girls and that is why I try to take the time to finish things up ever so often/Lillian

It gets on my nerves if I have a pile of unfinished things. So I most of the time finish my project unless i have to run to the fabric store for that certain lace or glue or whatever else I may need to finish.

bevintex by bevintex 12 Feb 2013

One more thought, if I come across an unfinished project it's usually because I did not like the way it turned out. So Itry to re purpose it into something I do like.

justsew by justsew 12 Feb 2013

I leave things because i can not see what is needed, so I leave it till I am happy with the way it is going to look.

airyfairy by airyfairy 13 Feb 2013

I think it is also because I have no sewing room so every thing has to be put away in very limited space. Also my memory is so bad I would forget what I was doing. LOL.

Fraid so. My UFO pile is getting soo big, I have to move it from the desk to the ironing board & back again to get into the sewing machine to start another project. Absolutley past a joke, I MUST sort it out soon. xx

Yes, I have had the problem of starting a project and having to stop, usually because what I thought would work did not work. So the project waited until I figured out how to finish it. I am trying to finish projects now and have been doing better.
