Today I went to a belated Christmas party with my Red Hat friends and I took a set of microwave bowl potholders complete with matching bowls for the gift exchange. They were the hit of the day. When I got home I emailed the tutorial to several of the ladies so they can make them for themselves and their friends and family. What fun it is to share. Since I made the first ones I have made about 25 of them in 8,9,10,11 and 12 inch sizes plus two different sizes in ovals.

This oval fits the boat shaped dishes that some ready to heat foods come in, The dish in the holder is from Hormel Completes. I used a 8x9 rectangle for this and did the darts the same way as I did for the square one. The other dish in the picture is from a Healthy Choice dinner which also fits in this holder.

Excellent idea, What makes them microwavable?

Thank you for the picture. Was not sure if you cut the fabric in an oval but see you used a rectangle.

to cfidl, By using 100% cotton materials you can put them in the microwave without fear of fire. Using any other materials could cause them to melt or burn.

So neat when your gifts are a hit. How did you do the dart for the oval ones?

Those are on my list to do as well. That would have been fun to be able to show them all something new to them. Great going!
