I am glad you asked. I had never seen these, before I saw them on the cute-site. I don't know people that use these here in the Netherlands, but hey do look nice.
I make simple towel . Very easy Just cut a kitchen towel in half. Do the blue top , with either a button /button hole or just add a tab of velcro.
Then top stitch all around.I copied this one years ago.Everybody loves them . Sometimes I just make tab bit skinner to fit the fridge handles.
This way is super easy.I forgot to mention you just gather as much or as little as you need the towel to fit your topper.I made a paper template then made one in muslin, adjusted it then made my template again in a sturdier vinyl and have used it for over 25 yrs.I prefer the button look but my hands are old and works great with velcro..
oh thank you very much it lokks very practical to me to and I could make a custom template for my use
Most are sewn on the towel, some are attached with velcro etc. The ones only attached make more sense to me as you probably wouldn't wash the topper as often as the towel part so it would stay nice longer. Seems to me anyway.
Yes Sue, you are right. The towel topper is stitched to the towel. If done right, they wash as well as the towel.
Because of children, husband, cats or dogs -- my kitchen hand towel was always on the floor. I would put a clean towel up and before I got a chance to use it I would find it on the floor. I know kitchens in the USA can be very different from other places, but I hang my towels on the door handles of the oven or fridge or sometimes on a knob to a cupboard. Then It isn't on the floor and everyone always has a place to dry their hands after they rinse the dishes.
It also gives me a chance to personalize my kitchen or in some cases quick access to an attached hotpad.
these are so useful and can be so pretty in any kitchen, also make great hostess gifts, everyone I have given them too loves them.
For me towel toppers are a must. I hang my towels over the handle on my stove, as I have a small kitchen. Whenever my husband or daughter use a towel to dry their hands they toss it on the kitchen counter when they are done. I am forever hanging it back up. The towel topper keeps it where it belongs and when Mama is happy it makes everyone happy. Hugs, Susan
We are always looking for functional ways to use our embroidery. The towel topper can add decor to your kitchen and hopefully make it easier to grab and hang.
I have a hook on my island & just love the 'enhancement on the towel' & the convenience of 'grab and go'. If they have to be seen, why not embellish them? Of course, I'm talking kitchen towels--haven't done any bath ones. YET!
you can sew the towel or tea towel so it is attched all the time or you can add elastic half way up at the back to to hang them on. hope this helps. hugs cyn
