At least you can laugh about it! doesn't really do any good to do much else, except to figure out a way to salvage it the way others have suggested. better luck next time.
Yep, it happened several times in my first year even with out the help! Lol!
Gummybear, my corgi, likes to curl up under the sewing machine to sleep while I work...right next to the foot pedal. So she can turn the machine on/off by laying on it. So far I've been able to salvage any damage. Fortunately, I've been able to teach her not to do that.
I don't have any pets as we're in an apt., but at least this wouldn't happen to me - when doing embroidery I can unplug the foot pedal, so no accidents.
Sorry to hear this Caroline - the worst thing that happened to me was when my DH turned off the electricity to mend something, not realising that I was using my machine. Luckily I managed to salvage the design. Sarah.
Felix was always interested in everything in my sewingroom. When he was about 2 years old he once pressed the on-off-button while I was stiching a princess for Anna. I had changed the position of the design on the display so I could not finish it after the new start of the machine. After that I added a plastic cup with tape over the on-off-button to give me an advance to reach him before he could do it again :o)
The poor faceless princess is still waiting for a handstitched face...
Greetings, Bettina
What great pictures Bettina. I have no pictures of the chaos Tuppance caused. After the hoop fell apart she jumped off the worksurface and took a load of threads with her. She has not been near my sewing room today. Oneday, maybe your princess will get a face
What about a button face for your princess? Prehaps you might embroidery a face on another piece of fabric and stitch it in place. What a wonderful chance to do something unusual with embroidery.
Hi Bettina, I just love the one of Felix having a look at the back of the sewing machine. Typical boy, I bet he's thinking "I wonder how this thing works?" Love Chris
Bettina, just looked at your great pictures again. Felix looks as if he is training to be a machine repair man
I have learned the same lesson to use a new full piece of WSS to hoop. I use the small pieces to use as a 2nd layer. I have also learned to check every once in a while to see that the hoop screw is tight enough. Yes, I have lost designs when the screw had lossened with use. And like you, I have learned to shut off the machine and walk away when I can't seem to do anything right.
funny how our pets can get away with lots huh? I have tried to save on rinse a way by over lapping pices in my hoop to do FSL only to find out after the whole design is finished it is worthless and out of shape. from now on I only use full pieces of the stuff.....trail and error ...I don't like error...ho hum..Kerry
