Ray and I just bought ourselves the best Christmas present ever.......

We paid the deposit on a 7 metre inground, concrete, salt water, swimming pool, to be completed as soon as Ray finishes the retaining wall along the river bank.

I am so excited, because I really miss having a pool.
I had one in my last five houses but since Ray and I got together 9 years ago I haven't even been swimming.
Sure we could swim in the creek but I can't bring myself to do that because it is very murky and if I can't see the bottom, there's no way I'm swimming in it. LOL!!!

I can hardly wait 'til it's finished and I can go swimming again, but there is another REALLY good reason for having a pool.....
it will be great for Ray's heart for him to do Aquarobics. (not to mention both our waist lines. LOL!!!)

So I may have sacrificed getting my new car this year but it will be so worth it to have a pool again. WOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Just read you comment about the neighbors. Mine has always been open to any neighbor although have come. As the Grand kids were growing up though I never knew how many would be in the pool at any given time. I watched all the kids grow up in the community and many have children of their own now. I had a sign up that always got a chuckle. It read like this. Welcome to our OOL you notice their is no P in OOL. Make sure it stays that way. I have a Bthrm that can be entered from the backporch through the laundryrm, so I would keep towels in the floor to catch the drips and that always worked for me and the fact that I always asked have you read my sign? Babies have to have diapers that are made for swimming so I've always been able to maintain a clean pool and see a lot of smiles/Lillian

This is wonderful Meg. I have gotten so much joy watching my Grands and now my Greats are growing up in the pool with me with them. Alas it's now covered for the winter. But a new day will be dawning in a few months and I do so look forward to it./ Love you/Lillian

Congratulations! Swimming is great exercise. We have a community
pool and Jacuzzi but I haven't been there in ages-much nicer to have one at home.

I made a deal with Ray, he suggested it.... that if he gets up early and works before the heat of the day, then has a good six hour break and resumes work in the cool of the afternoon,
then I will let him do some work on the river wall.
I KNOW he will never be able to get up early. hehehehehe!!!!

Oh, what a great present! Now there is an idea. How do you waterproof a laptop? Maybe you can patent it and pay for the pool.

I actually have a waterproof portable keyboard, and if it had a cable long enough, but then I would be able to read the screen. Guess I'm sunk. LOL!!!

I can relate. I think I'm part fish and would miss my pool so much if it wasn't there. I've told hubby that any house we have after this must have a pool. He just smiles and says 'yes dear', keeping in mind we've been in this house for 30 years! (giggle) Congrats and make sure you use your sunblock.....

Oh I can't tell you how much I have missed my pool. Some hot days I look longingly at the creek and I've nearly succumbed, but the fear of what I can't see always stops me. LOL!!!
Our next door neighbours have a pool downstairs inside their house and we some times hear them, but they've never extended us an invite. Aren't they meanies?!! :-)
