I will be so glad when this year is over. After a storm and a lightening strike almost 2 weeks ago I lost my modem and a printer. I think I was lucky as others in my road lost TV's and Computers. There are so many e-mails and sites/information to wade through now that you might not hear from me for a while.

Hi Lyn, I've wondering how you've been getting on. I thought you must have been more than busy with Christmas Market projects. Are you still doing bobbin lace lessons? I'm so glad that your new machine didn't get any damage. Those lightning storms were fierce. We only got the tail end of them down here. I hope you can soon get back to normal.
Unplugging is the way to go in stormy weather.

Alma, You might not believe it but Christmas Markets are never very busy. Think most people have bought their presents by then.

Hope you are doing o.k. Lyn, it is so frustrating to go through all of that. Poor old South Australia has had a few weather issues this year. Good to see you back on here now anyway. Love and blessings Chris

A big ouch! It is still very inconvenient and time consuming to catch up again. It is best to unplug the machines when not in use. We also have our computer and my machines plugged into a back-up generator/surge protector. You purchase one at an office supply store.

Oh so sorry to hear what has happened. My computer and embroidery machines are connected to a surge protector. Goodness knows what you cal them in your bit of the world but they are well worth having. Dont get bogged down with searching for loads of freebies just enjoy using your embroidery machine

Mine were also connected to a surge protector, but this still didn't help.

Good luck getting through all those e-mails. Your lighting strike sounds as bad as the transformer that exploded that took out 18 houses on our block. We lost everything that was plugged in with a motor. The refrigerator, washer, dryer, tv's, stereo, the kids game systems. We were luck enough to have a refrigerator not plugged in at the time so didn't lose our food and eventually the power company reimbursed us for all the repairs after it was determined they were not broke at the time of the incident. Wishing you and the other residents that had ruined items luck on getting things fixed or repaired by their insurance companies.

It makes my loss so small but frustrating.

I am so sorry. It has just not been your year. Glad you are back up and running again. Hope your machine is still OK. Take a break in all your email & sites and give yourself a break and sew something. Next year will be better. :)

Luckily my machine wasn't connected as I was doing a lot of hand sewing. Next storm I will switch everything off and unplug everything.
