Need Advice: For years I have used a Viking Designer 1 that used floppies to transfer the designs. No problem to write contents of disk on it and file in approprite place in file drawer such as lace angel under lace and then angel.

Now I have a Viking Ruby that uses a USB flash drive and I am at a lost as to how to "file" designs or does one just scoll until it shows up? Thanks for input. jobaby

I believe the Ruby has a direct USB connection to your computer. If you use that you can access your designs directly from the computer. You can view them just as you would if viewing them on the computer. If you have to use the flash drive, I would only transfer a few designs as needed. All of my designs are stored on my computer. I have a file named MY DESIGNS. Within that folder I have sub folders such as alphablets, Christmas designs, ornaments, animals and etc.

I also, I had a designer 1 with floppy disk, and now I have the machine Ruby, and I am very happy with.
It is better that the key USB is not too powerful, 2 or 4GO, and it must not contain anything else that designs.
The best is to open 8 or 10 files in it, and in each, you put about 10 designs. So, the machine opens quickly the key.
I think that it is more intersting to store your designs on a hard disk, and you put on the key, only what you will use during the week, as a temporary stokage.
You can also link directly your computer to the machine with the plug USB

Thank you very much. I just haven't figured out how to create files in which to put designs. Guess I need to spend more time working with it.

jobaby try this. To create a new folder right click on you mouse where you want to create a folder like in Documents etc. choose NEW, choose FOLDER and give it a name. You can do this in any folder which would create sub folders. Hope this helps.
