For those who might know....when making your own applique font, say 3" tall, what is the best satin stitch width to make sure you catch all the threads of the applique fabric? Thank you

I'm not very good at trimming really close to the stitch line, so I like to make my final satin stitch set at 12, instead of 8.

It would certainly help of you run a zig-zig line stitch before you run the satin stitch. This helps a lot to ensure that you catch all the threads and avoid fraying. Even a tripple line (top, centre and bottom) helps me a lot in applique. I normally use a 3mm satin stitch in larger applique pieces. Good luck!

Have you sewn any from sewswell? Love how they sew. I have a lot of their flowers. Sign up for a bunch of free designs to try. Nothing worse than having the material pull out from inside the app!

My Pe design default setting is 0.08" for width and density 114 line/inch. {2.0mm width and 4.5 line mm}
This makes applique.
Happy Stitching

Ramona, I don't digitize so I can't help you with the measurements, BUT, If you have an applique from Planet Applique, I'd measure hers, because her stitches are perfect and grab the fabric.... Love her stuff too... Hugs, Terre
