An update on my GS Joshua. He has an appointment with the surgeon on Tuesday to see when the external fixator can be removed. He will then be in a plaster cast for three months - then he has to learn how to walk again. He is just so fed up. He should be learning to drive now but that will not happen for a long time.

Sarah, I know this will sound like a cliche, but it really is true. In the whole picture of Joshua's life, this will be one of the most important times. This is the time when he is learning what is important in life, how to understand others, how to be patient and creative. It is in fact, a blessing. I truly believe this, as I've seen it time and time again. When someone has to overcome such a huge obstacle, he develops in ways he couldn't have in any regular life without challenges. He will be strong, understanding, caring and someday he will look back and see this.
Have you ever seen, or heard Nick Vujicic? He's from Australia, and you simply must check out this video! I wish I could be more like him :-)
Love and hugs from you, Jan and prayers too!

I would just like to say thank you to all of you who replied to my post. You all made me feel so much better about Joshua as I have been really down thinking about him. He has missed so much school which is just another worry on top of everything else. I will be seeing him in September which I am so looking forward to. Hugs and flowers to all.

I hope he uses this time to plan for his future. My Daughter has been in a cast for the past couple weeks, and I heard plenty of negativity. Now today she is driving for the first time and she is appreciating her freedom! I had to keep putting that carrot in front of her face! Lol!

Frustration now but driver's license will come. Day by day he is getting closer to his 2 goals of walking and driving.

Ah, he just doesn't realize yet how little time this setback in his life amounts to. He will learn to walk and to drive and be healthy and whole again. I'll pray for him to gain some perspective but I promise not to pray for him to have patience~ I tried it once. ONLY once. The Lord just might show you how much patience you have. ;)

I can understand his frustration - it was about the same time my husband broke is leg and foot so badly. It was not half as bad as Joshua's accident. My husband has started this week to walk (actually more of a limp) without the boot. At times he is very depressed and gets upset easily so I can just imagine what Joshua and his whole household is going through. All we can do is be patient, smile and then pray for the best recovery possible.

Ai Sarah I feel for him. This should not have happened in the first place.

I am sure he is fed up :) BUT he WILL walk again and he HAS HIS FOOT... and he will drive albeit a bit later than he has hoped :)
