I was just watching a You Tube Video of Inspira Cutwork needles, and that they can be used with any embrodery machine. There are special designs for it but wonder in other designs could be adapted for their use. Has anyone used this needle? Here's a couple of links for everyone to watch and see how it works. I would really like to put this on my "want" list. But still don't know the cost.

I paid €49 (about $60) for the Inspira needles plus a CD with 4 designs.
You have to use specially digitised designs. Or you can convert a 'normal' cutwork design by adding the cutting lines - in 5D (Husqvarna or Pfaff) the software chooses the right needles for you. There's a tutorial on the Husqvarna website demonstrating how to do that.
In other software you can digitise a cutting line by using a very short single stitch, but in that case you'd have to figure out which needle to use for which part of the cutting line.
I like the results, although not on felt which I used for a Christmas card last year - the edge is just not clean enough as you can see in the hearts.

Since it appears that you own a Bernina, they will be coming out with just the cutwork tool by itself, instead of with the software. From what I understand the price is arounc $400 for the tool and it should work on most cutwork designs. Since the tool and the software run about $900 or so, it might be worth checking into.

I found another video from 2011 Puyallup Sewing Expo, it shows a more on the spot demo. It does involve a lot of stop and go changing the needle position. It looks like to really do anything you will also need the software. Haven't checked into what that will cost :( not cheap I bet. Anyway here's the YouTube link, hopefully this one works. I have seen used ones for sale on "sewitsforsale", but didn't really pay attention to what it was or the prices as I didn't know if it would work with my Bernina.

Here's the link as I can't get it work on the "add link" section below.

I did kind of find out the price of the software new...it's around $499.00. But I'm hoping to find it used for a lot less.
