I use milliners needles because they are longer than your average hand sewing needles

When I have trouble getting a needle or pin to go through fabric, I run it through my hair. The natural oils help them slip right through. I learned this trick from my Granny while using cloth diapers on my little wiggle worm over 27 years ago :0)

Since I am a quilter, I use the quilting needles size 9. One day I just picked up one of my quilting needles to do a hand-repair job and loved the needle much better than the sharps. So that's all I buy, except for special fabrics, like upholstery.

Sharps are probably sharpest (LOL) but I like darners because they have a bigger eye. Don't be put off by thinking that darning needles are huge - they come in all sizes.
