I have a prob w/tension of upper thread on my Pacesetter 2002ULT. No message but the tensions disks won't accept threading unless I raise the foot extra high (a little click) before lowering it to start sewing. It is annoying for every thread change & sometimes I forget--what a mess of tangle in the bobbin!! Maybe this would work for you? I think it opens the tension disks to let the thread in. Orrrrr..., you have thread caught in one of the bearings.

I had this with my Brother innov 900. it was at first only on cotton threads then it would do it a lot of the time on any it didnt like, even brother threads, a Cutie said when you thread up hold your thread tighter, and this did help, but at the end of the day it took the enjoyment out of sewing. and I took it back the servise and sort out was £90. it is fine now.
Hugs Pam.

Good luck, I hope it's something simple & cheap. Love these computerized machines, but when that darn computer gets a bug up it's nose and starts imagining things, then I really hate them. Kind of like the "check engine" light on cars: it can mean anything from "the engine's going to blow up" to " your gas cap isn't on tight"--or it could mean nothing, just stray electricity turning the darn light on. What does "check thread" mean, anyway? Is is possible there's a stray piece of lint or thread in the thread path, caught in the tensioners, blocking a sensor somewhere? Best of luck with this, hope you get it sorted out easily & free. Hugs, Marji

Which brother machine do you have".. I have a pr1000 and mine does this sometimes I found it only happened with certain threads and I can usually cure it by using a thread net and putting the thread cone lower on the table and use it from there. It's worth a try. Sue

If I am not mistaken, it is a matter of turning off some reminders on your machine. You probably will not need to replace any parts.

I had a simular problem, after cleaning and oiling, I know it says not to but I have been oiling on the metal on metal arms, I turned it off for a spell and it finally started to work, I hope its an easy fix for you. I do most of my servicing at home since the nearest Brother is over 2 hours away.

I had similar problem with my Bernina machine. If there is a way you can get to the machine settings, you can turn off the error messages of threads, it will stop these messages & can continue with sewing/embroidery. I am not familiar with Brother machine. On my bernina, it is a button on rt hand side.OR if you have access to the dealer, whoever sold you the machine/repairman, he can tell tell you over the phone.I hope it helps.
