Good morning Cuties, this morning I would like to show my ignorance by asking what a 'dammit' 'dam it' 'damnit' doll is and from where do they originate. Frankly I have never heard of them until now. Thanking you, hugs S*

I have one also. I have had it for a long time, it used to sit on my desk in the office when I was still working. I used it often!!!!

I purchased one many years ago at a thrift store for $1. It was made of white satin and had a veil. Also had some sequins on it. I kept it on a bookcase
in my office and my co workers would come in and say
where is she? Give her a few whacks and smile. I
retired 11 years ago and brought her home. It is just a stress reliever. I know she is here BUT WHERE? Enjoy olds/Maureen

long ago and far away when my life was one day of misery after another I had a terrific stress releiver. I found a large cardboard box (not large in size but kinda tall) in the bottom I placed a piece of concrete block. Then during my normal routine when finishing a glass bottle I would wash it out and set it aside. When the stress I was under got to be to much I would take my stash of glass containers and head to the basement where I would slam these glass items in the box as hard as I could. You would me amazed how much stress is relieved by breaking glass and by having a large box no cleanup! My abusive husband never knew what the box was for but I kept my sanity.

Sorry to hear you had such a need for that stress reliever, but I bet it was a great comfort to you at the time. I'm sure life is a whole lot rosier for you nowadays!

Here is a poem you can print out to go with it.There are several versions, just google dammit dolls

Dammit Doll Poem.
When you want to climb the walls
and stand right up and shout
theres a little dammit doll
you cannot do without.
Just grasp it firmly by the legs
and find a place to slam it
as you whack the stuffing out
yell, DAMMIT,DAMMIT,DAMMIT!!
If dammits not a word you say
then twist its little neck
and grumble out repeatedly
OH HECK. OH HECK, OH HECK.!!
and once you've done abusing it
just sit it on the shelf
but hug it first, as i'd hug you
if i were there myself.

Its a simple stuffed doll. The idea is that when you're feeling annoyed or frustrated, you toss it across the room or hit something with it and scream Dammit, Dammit Dammit :) Here are some variations on use for one.

Thank you for the information :o)
Just commented at the same moment *lol*
For those frustrations I will buy a punchbag someday. Wonderful combination of "de-stressing" and sport ;-)
