Viking Designer SE Question: My internal memory is full of designs I stitched. I saved them in case I want to do them again. At this point I cant save any more designs because the internal memory/favorites is full. How do I move them all to a thumb drive to open up space on the internal memory?

I have the Designer Ruby which might be slightly different.
In File Manager there are 5 icons: My designs, my fonts (where you can store your alphabet letters), my files, built-in designs and External Appliences.
You can not make subfiles in My Designs or My Fonts.

You can copy from one file to another, however Built-in designs can't be removed or new ones added.

For me,When all else fails,I get out the SE Users Guide that came with the machine! Page 5-8 tells you how to move, copy & delete folders and files. Page 5-9 says that" when the memory is full you have to delete files to be able to load another file. If you want to keep your files you can move them to an external device by using the Cut and Paste function, see previous page."

I have made folders for designs that I copy to my card for the machine. Make notes of what stitches out well or bad spots or even colour. After stitching I can make any corrections of the designs on the computer or delete it completely if I was not happy.I add notes or coments with word doc in the same folder.
If I need to stitch them out again they are ready to copy to my card again.
I don't have room to have comp and emb machine linked together and prefer to carry the designs across with the card.
I do however save the design in the pockets on the embmachine but that is only incase I have a malfunction while the design is stitching out. Some times a thread nest or Interruption of family, but the design is safe in the temp pocket.
Now I have some lovely project folders all with my tried and tested designs, ready for restitching with no faults (or acceptable faults, very few are faultless, maybe I am too fussy here).
Happy Stitching!

I have the Diamond, but it should work the same. Insert the stick, bring up the design in the internal memory to the screen. There should be a choice to save, I am not at home so can't look, but I do it all the time. Sort of the reverse of saving it to the internal memory, save it to the stick instead. You do have to do one at a time.

GREAT question!
I believe you can do what newdawn has suggested, or if you have a cable, to direct link your computer to your machine, perhaps it will allow you to transfer the designs back to your computer.
I guess everyone will be trying to do this now, including me. :-) (I have the Diamond)

I tried everything I could think of to move the designs from my Brother 750D machine, but that was a no go. I don't even know if I can delete designs I don't want?????

I hope someone will come along who can tell you what works.
Hugs n roses, Meganne

This is an interesting question - I also have the same machine but have not used my internal memory. I only use my USB sticks to put designs on. I look forward to someone who has done this to write and let us know. Love and blessings Chris
