I have a friend who is quite Brand-loyal. She keeps buying Singer embroidery machines, then they blow out their motherboard and it's too expensive to fix them. I think she has four of them now, and only one works. I don't know what the models are. She struggles and struggles with them. i wish she had a Brother, so I could help her learn how to use it. I think I'm becoming brand-loyal to Brother - LOL

Singers do have timing issues. And it's not cheap to fix. You can do it yourself with a manual from Singer-Top of Texas but when you have to do it 2 times in one month you will wish you bought something else.

I think you will be glad you did.

I have one but it was my 1st one. It has no bells or whistles but it has never given me any problems. I also have 2 BabyLocks, Ellageo and Esante( newest one) and they are the ones I use all of the time. I have even thought about selling the Singer. It does have a beautiful stitch. If you do not mind me asking, how much is the selling price. It will cost a fortune to ship the heavy machine so I had thought about putting an ad for it in the local paper. I just have no idea what kind of price to ask for it. Mine is the oldest of the 3 but I opened a craft store and bought the two others, one behind the other. My Singer has been used very little. If I don't sell it I am going to use it as a sewing machine. It is hard to part with any of them but since I got sick in 2006, I have used them very little. The newest one is used the most but it does not have as pretty a stitch as the Singer and the Esante although it does have more bells and whistles. I would ask to see it sewn on or ask to use it yourself before I actually paid for it. That way you can get an idea of what the designs look like sewn out.

I think I will pass on it, they are asking $800. I have a singer sewing machine and it gives me a lot of problems with the bobbin case.

Buy new,get the warranty. Check the brother machines. For about 600 you can buy brand new.

Did they say why they were selling? I know a lot of people have troubles with bobbin issues. Ask to see it in action if possible. How far is the nearest Singer repairman? If the price is right and you feel comfortable go for it.

Thanks for the answer, I have 3 sewing machine repairmen that take care of my machines. But with all the problems with the bobbins I think $800 is to much

I agree. I got this info straight from Singer yahoo site.
