I thought I have the "voting" figured out; however, the other day when I voted for a design, rather than adding a vote it lessened it BY TWO!! What am I doing wrong?

You probably used your back button after voting. That takes you back to the page before you voted - so it will appear that your vote hasn't registered. If you refresh the page, it should be there. Same with flowers you give to people!
