19452In 1972, before all the new modern heart technology, my daughter, age seven, had to have open heart surgery to correct a Ventrical Septal Defect involving a large hole in the two lower chambers. There was a fifty/fifty chance, but she came through wonderfully, was home in 11 days, and turning flips with her sisters in no time at all! Needless to say, it was heartwrinching and a time of despair for me, but she is 46 years old now, and having no difficulties with her heart at all. No meds after the 1st year from surgery. She's on no heart meds now. With all the wonderful technology, your gs will be feeling great and going full blast in a short time! Relax! God is good, and your gs is in those hands!! Hugs to YOU!

So happy to hear your little one is doing well. My niece had to have the same thing done when she was very young. She's in her 40's now and has not had one problem in all these years. Know it's scarey but God will be watching over him.

My Grandson also has a hole in his heart. We wait with bated breathe to see if he will require the operation.

7161My daughter was born with Tetrology of Fallot. She had her first surgery at 5 years old and her second at 20. She is now 33 and doing well. It is the hardest thing to watch a loved one, especially a child, go thru things like this. I always tried to focus on being thankful that repair was an option. Not that many years ago, it wouldn't have been. Stay strong, kids are very resilient.
