Can someone PLEASE HELP----I have been using Brother PEDBasic for about 8 years---have had trouble with it ALMOST ALL THE TIME----since I got it----it gets stuck on a file and will not let me open the window to see the desings until I go back into Windows Explorer and RENAME the file--This past week it got him up on C/ and shut the whole thing down AGAIN---My husband is a computer guru and his done EVERYTHING that Brother has told him to do-----still will not come up---we have done EVERYTHING----Brother INSISTS there is NOT a problem----I like the fact that I can see all designs in a folder at one time---

Is there another program out there where I can see ALL the designs in a folder at one time on one screen that will NOT freeze the program and shut everything down---

The Brother operating system is PES.

BUT PEDBasic STINKS/////////

Please help if you can----I will greatly appreciate any/all help/ideas that will solve the problem (short of using a sledge hammer))))))).

Thank you,
Sue

I'm wondering if PED Basic is "freezing" because you have so many designs in one folder and it's just taking a while to read all the files before you can scroll through them..? I put a max of 200 files in each folder (eg flowers 1, flowers 2, etc). Also suggest you check that you have the updated version of PED Basic so that you can read pes files version 6 & up, the older version of PED Basic would only read up to pes version 4. Good luck. :) xXx

Thanks---Husband and I have done EVERYTHING!!!!! Brother blames the system--Windows 7---and REFUSES to take ANY responsiility for any bugs---I have had trouble with it for YEARS---but now it won't even come up---VERY FRUSTRATED with Brother----glad I bought Floriani Embroidery Suite when I did---expensive but WELL WORTH THE PRICE in user friendliness and support 24/7!!!!!

Are you using Vista? I've been using PeD Basic and I never had a problem with it except on my lap top which is Vista. It did strange things To the computer and I had to take it off. Other than that I haven't had a problem.

Used it with Vista in the past---and STILL had problems then.
Have had problems with more than one system on more than one computer.

Thanks.

You got good advices i have PED Basic never had a problem with. Go to Brothers site and DL the update, thats What I have done, they tell you not to use the disc!!!! Remember you have to work with unzipped files. Good luck!

Not sure about PED Basic, but I have PE-Deaign v7. It HAS to have the card reader pluged into the computer at all times to work properly. Lyn. xx

Or if you just want to look at designs in a folder, go to redmugs for free d/l of viewer. Open folder and view, or see one design at a time. choose one you want from a folder and print or send to your page for writing to card.

Sue, you've already gotten good advice. I'd uninstall all the program-go to Bro site & download the updated version, then connect the card reader and it will install all. It's the easiest way..your program may be out of date, or corrupted in some way..BEST solution!!

Hi Sue, If you go to about in the program and find out what version you are running, you may just need to upgrade. I love ped basic, however I have the same problem with 3D which is an older program. Live Laugh Download Stitch!

Hi Sue: I also use PED-Basic, & it works fine 99% of the time. I used to use it on win XP, now use it both my win 7s. I create a file in my documents, (call it anything you like, as long as you can always remember it), download file(s) to it, open the Ped-Basic, open the file, & all the designs are there. The only time it throws me out of the program, is when I want to see the larger version of the design, I click on the icon to enlarge, it will give me an error message, & throw me out of the program. I then know not to try to enlarge it again. That is a problem with the design file, not the program. Have you gone to the brother site & downloaded the upgrade version of the program?, not using the one included on disc. Good luck to you Sue, I hope you can get it straightened out, for your peace of mind. Hugs, Tammy

Sue, I just want to add to my comment, PED-Basic will not read zipped files. Always unzip them to see them in the program. It will read any of the PES version files, as long as they are unzipped. Good luck Hon. Tammy

Your right. They have to be unzipped To afloder to see them.

We have done the online "SUPPORT", the live chat, the telephone live "SUPPORT", UNinstalled, REinstalled, shut down, EVERYTHING----They blame it on Windows---we are supposed to go to the Computer manufacturer and MAKE THEM take care of Brother's problem-----Yeah, right,

My husband has worked with computers for over 30 years---the old "PASS THE BUCK" and blame someone else because Brother puts out and INFERIOR product and REFUSES to accept responsibility and be accountable for the product they do NOT update or get the bugs out of.

We have done EVERYTHING they said to do and NOTHING!!!!

Thanks for your help////

Sue I know that unless your design is in an actual file folder the PEBasic will not show up. I use Pulse Ambassador, which is a freebie. I LOVE it. There are others out there. But I've always used this one and it will convert if you need it to. Hope this helps you some. PS go ahead and register with it so you don't have to be reminded over and over. The one that I have all you have to do is click on your PES icon and if the pa is on your desktop it will just show up the design.
