Happy Father's Day Daddy - how I wished I were able to say that to you - one more time and give you a big hug.

When my Daddy passed November 3, 2005 - I wanted to have something that others could grab ahold of and hug when they were feeling blue - so I made this off white and black plush pillow with Daddy's Navy picture that I digitized and embroidered - for his service and my daughter Sheila now has it in her home.

Shirlene.
These are a great idea, as you say, something to hug when feeling blue. I made one for the widow of our local police officer who was shot and killed here in Tamworth in March this year, She sleeps with it every night.

You did a great job digitising, Shirlene. It's a lovely keepsake. Didn't you stitch one for yourself too??
And have you made one of your mother as well? She looks so pretty in the picture. They would make a nice pair if you framed them.

Martine, thank you dear - I used the auto photo stitch on this one. I have made one for my Mother - my daughter has that one, as well. I think framing them - might be they way I would go - more than the pillow.

1. When I digitize a design - I have to do a test stitch out of it - to make sure that I have all the colors right - here is my TEST and the original photo that I used to create the pillow that I made to honor my Daddy. As you see - I didn't like the frame I had on the TEST - so I put a black satin stich around the photo stitch on the off white pillow front.

2. I also stitched this out on a man's hankie - to be used under his urn at his service and my niece Nikki now owns it.

3. This is a closeup of the hanky. My Daddy served in the Navy and was very proud of that - his service was also held on Veteran's Day 2005. Most of the pictures shared in tribute to him - were during his tour of duty. There was a video made that had pictures of his life and the many family members that he loved. I do miss my Daddy, especially on days such as today.
