I have a embroidery mashine with a 4X4 hoop and I´m so sad because I´m so limited . I make a decision, I must have a new one.

Who can give an advise. Whitch mashine should I by? My is from brother..I like it it´s easy to work with. The mashine should not be to expensive because I´m not a professionel, but should work well. What would you choose?

I am a Bernina machine girl from day one, but you should buy a machine that you can have serviced locally. This thing of packing up a machine and shipping is not good. Hopefully you should get lessons free of charge. LET US KNOW WHAT YOU decide DECIDE. Kay

I had a Brother SE400 that I purchased off Amazon. I thought it sewed a 5X7 area because it came with that sized hoop. I cried when it arrived and only sewed a 4X4 area!!!! I couldn't afford a better machine at that time. My hubby finally helped me finance an Innov-is 1250D which is an embroidery and sewing machine, it is just like my first one only it sews a larger area. I would love the next step up from this one but I am only a casual, okay mildly obsessed, embroiderer and can't afford to pay any more. I love my machine and try not to be jealous of anything else.

How sad about the SE400. Just shows, it's always best to ask the (what seams) silliest of questions. I would like larger than 5x7 but the next jump is enormous $ isn't it

Oops... that's 'seems' not 'seams' lol

I love my brother machine & all my designs are in Pes format, so I want to stick to brother.

Hi I am adding my comments... If you have a Brother I would get Brother again. I have 2 machines a Brother Galaxie 3000 and a PR 650. Both of these machines were bought from the dealer I use and each machine was secondhand. The PR was his demonstration machine. By getting secondhand machines from him they were cheaper and they came with a warrenty. Though I live miles away from him it is worth the hassles of getting to him.

If you are selling your current machine you should be able to get a good trade in price by using a dealer

It´s complicated because my machiine is a 120V machine from the USA and know I try to by in GB because these time I don´t want to pay so much costumes, otherwise you were right

I see you have had some good advice - to stay with the brand that you know - also look for a dealer or someone that will be able to repair anything that you buy - whether it is new or used. Get what you can afford and the size of hoops you need. ENJOY!

I have a Janome 11000 machine it has foops from 2x2 - 4.5x4.5 and 8x8 there is also a expandable hoop for 2 part embroiuderies that is 8x13. All the Janome inner works are made out of metal not plastic like a lot of mackines are. But avoid the new Janome 12000 they seem to have a lot of bugs in it to iron out. Hugds Joyce

My first machine was Brother 180D and I loved it, but as the time passed I noticed the really nice designs come 5x7 emb. area machine, so i bought PC6500 Brother and I Iam in love never has give me a problems. I just take it for cleaning twice a year( i live too close to the ocean) If i have the money i would like a larger hoop area but I can not afford it meanwhile i am very happy with my 5x7 area, I have Embird I have done emb. 5x14 using the split tool the desing comes out perfectly.

My first machine was a 4x4 and I learned to do many things with it....By rehooping you can embroider a much larger area by adding designs.

I think it would be whether you want an all in one or an emb. only machine. I only wanted an emb. machine as I have a great regular machine... also many times I'm sewing on the regular machine while the emb. machine is sewing out a design.
My new machine is a Brother 780D does both 4x4 and 5x7 and I find that enough for anything I need to do, and it is only about $750 - $900 around here -- and can be purchased on Amazon and E-Bay. I took the price on line to my dealer and he matched it.

I started with the Brother 780D - it is embroidery only and does up to 5*7 - it worked very well for me (it is now my backup machine). There are MANY designs out there that work in the 5*7 - and I use the 5*7 hoop the most on my new machine too. Good luck.

I was like you. I had a Brother PE2700 it had a 4x4 hoop. I wanted a bigger hoop too. So I shopped on Ebay and found a great deal on a Brother 770. I love it. My SIL has a Brother 780 and loves hers too. I would still like a bigger hoop but a 5x7 is the most usful. Good luck, Susan

It´s my opinion too. I like my Brother mashine very much because she is easy to use. I have a SE400 the big problem is realy the hoop. The Brother mashines are veru expencive here in Portugal so I bought mine in ebay I paid 300$ but I had to pay costum´s 100€

I had had the Brother SE350 a 4x4 and I too loved it but found to limited. I brought the Baby Ellisimo. I do love it. Very pricy. I wouldn't go back.

Well, I have a Baby Lock Ellisimo and I LOVE it...very pricy, but it's what I wanted. A lot will depend upon how much you want to spend..and also, what size variety of hoops you are looking for. Brother and Baby Lock are "sister" machines and operate almost exactly alike. I had a Janome 11000SE and had nothing but trouble...gave it back to the dealer and got the Ellisimo. Would not have another Janome...but that's just me...really big problems with the 11000SE. Good Luck!

If you like Brother maybe a PE700II, it has a 5"X7" size hoop that would probably keep you happy for awhile. It embroiders well and the cost is around $600 to $700 US dollars. You may even find a slightly used one for around $500.
