QUILT THAT AMY AND I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON. In between doing all the other things Amy and I have sewn this gigantic King Size bed quilt. Just got it back from the quilter today. It cost $150.00 to quilt with batting included. It is supposed to be going to England for the 7th June, for Steve's twin sister, but I'm not sure if Amy is going yet. We will have to wait and see. Love Chris

I'm leaving the binding for Amy!!!!!!!!!!!

Chris, great job on the quilt! I know it'll be appreciated. If you get a chance, post a close up of the quilt pattern used please. Would love to see it.

Hi Ramona, it was only 4 little squares of 3 1/4 inches and then one large single square 6 1/2 inches. Once you sew the 4 little squares together it made a square of 6 1/2 inches wide. Then we joined the 4 square one next to a plain one. Love Chris

I'm sure she will Marianne. Apparently Sarah loves this colour combination and Amy should know, she lived with them whilst in England for nearly a year! Love Chris

This is lovely Chris. How nice to work on a project with your daughter. My eldest seems to drop stuff off and leaves me to it! There is someone near me who will quilt with a long arm machine but I have not got that far yet

That's what we did with this one. My quilting lady (who I've been using for years) has a longarm quilting machine and it's so quick. I don't quilt! I just patchwork etc. Love Chris

Chris, you and Amy have done a great job - I see from your other post - that you are not that found of the colors or fabric selection - it is lovely - a bit muted - but very lovely. Job well done. What will happen - if Amy isn't going?

pennifold by pennifold 22 May 2012

Yep Shirlene, not my colour choice at all! It will have to be posted and at around 2kg it's going to cost a lot to post to England. Love Chris

asterixsew by asterixsew 22 May 2012

It would probably be more expensive it were going from the UK as the post has just gone up quite a bit here

Is $150 a good price for the quilting there? I've never priced having a quilt top quilted professionally in the UK so this is interesing as fabrics and threads seem to be so much cheaper in the USA. ( I think that's where you are)? Jan

pennifold by pennifold 22 May 2012

No Jan I'm from Australia!!!!
I felt that this was a good price. It takes a lot of time to set up the quilt on the quilting frame and to do the design etc. This woman does excellent work, I've used her for years. Love Chris

You ain't half wrong there Anita, just the cutting out alone of hundreds of squares and then putting them together. I did them with an overlocker (serger) as some of the fabric (ticking) frayed so much. Love Chris
