just read this and all the suggetions, so I wonder just like Shirley: how did everything go and are you able to use the machine again?
by the way I had some time ago lost the screw of the bobbinplate in the machine. I took it to the dealer and he got it out , without any costs for me. But I must say, I go to the dealer once a year for a check up of my machine.
If that happened to me I believe I would take my almost ten thousand dollar machine to the mechanic. I would not put any magnet down inside it!
i watched my tech many times turn it upside down and shake be brave and save your cash for designs lol hugs
Take my advice and take it to the sewing tech. This happened to me just recently and I took some ones advice and turned the machine upside down and shook it and the needle got stuck in the bobbin senser. I had to end up takeing it to the sewing tech. He only charged a minimal fee to get it out. Shirley
Definitely keep the magnet AWAY from any computerized parts! I only use it on the mechanical end :-) Good Point!!
Oh My! Thank you! I should probably make a phone call to tech before I do anything else.
If the magnet doesn't work, use forceps and duck tape. LOL... But I'm sure the magnet works, unless it is a needle that is aluminum.
See you have already been given Answers.
I also have a set of makeup brushes next to my machine, that I use to clean out the machine. I've already managed to get a needle piece up with it as well. Hope you manage to get it out, before you start sewing again.Hugs Yvonne
I am so busy with my GDs that I have stopped wearing makeup. This will be a good use for the new brushes I have. LOL Thanks
This happens often! I usually find the piece on the top of my embroidery! Try everything you can to get it out! However I have turned the machine upside down over the bed and shaken it, when that didn't work I took it to the dr. He said there is a little space down there that it goes into (needle tip heaven??) and as long as the wheel turns several time without any jamming, it should be ok. I even dropped the knife (cuts the jumps) when I was cleaning! The next time I took it for service they gave it back to me (had to buy a new one, so now I have a spare). I have the Diamond, had the D1 and SE before. Don't dispair, try turning the hand wheel sloooowlllly, and if it is ok, try a few sewing stitches. If that works you should be ok.
Wow, good to know about needle heaven! LOL I have turned the wheel by hand but and allseemed okay. Maybe I will try actually sewing slowly at first. Thanks
I keep a pair of long handled, curved forceps for doing jobs like this, they have a good reach and you can lock them onto the piece of needle so you can pull it out without dropping it.
OR, if you have a small round (strong) magnet, glue it onto the small knob at the end of any extending antenna, like the below and you can gently guide it down into the machine until it locates the broken needle.
Hope this helps. hugs n roses, Meganne
Thank you, you are so creative with your helpful ideas as well as your embroidery!
Oh NO!!! You do want to try everything you can do to get the pieces out. Do you have a little magnet? That has worked for me. Also, can you take the bottom apart, like taking off the needle place, pull out the bobbin race? Usually they aren't too hard to find when It's all opened up. Gently turn the hand wheel just to make sure the needle is not caught. It may be that the pieces have fallen completely though to the bottom. Lots of times I just think they have fallen through, when actually they are there on my table top somewhere. I use a piece of scotch tape, sticky side down and run it over the area, and often find it. I hope some of these ideas help! Good LUck!
I meant needle plate. And yes, you could do damage to your machine if you run it with the needle caught up in the moving parts.
