Do most of you have to take a day or so just to pick up and clean up your sewing room??? or is it just me who lets it get so messy, that I cannot stand it anymore??? And finally have to take a day to clean it up......

Im guilty of cleaning up at the end of the day in my sewing room and the rest of the house also. It's easier for me to stay on top of the cleaning if I pick up each day. Hugs, Judy

I try to clean between each project but don't always get it done. If I know company's coming I drag out the cleaning stuff, set in the middle of the floor and keep sewing. That way when they see the mess and the cleaning stuff they think I was just getting around to it. :)

I have a clean up day in my sewing room, and my spare dinning room, where I cut out patterns, once a month at the very least or it drives me nuts, lol! I also clean if I know I'm having company. so once ever few months it gets an extra cleaning, lol!

Have you ever heard of Chaos Theory? It can be demonstrated and completely proven in my sewing room. From the second I have it all neat and tidy, it begins to just fall to pieces. I have too many collections in my sewing room and it's too small, but if it were bigger, I'd just fill it up. It is definitely my happy place, filled with lots of memories and past gifts from loved ones. And, of course fabrics! When I'm doing any kind of project I made an enormous mess - the floor, the chairs, every surface gets stacked. You can barely get in the door. When I am finished, I come up for air, look around and am amazed I could do anything at in all that mess. I get everything back in its little place and chaos starts all over again! It truly is the most organized room in the house :-)

Think we probably all dream of a well organized craft/sewing room. My active projects are mostly spread out& am tryin to go through a few things. Problem with thinking might use this item 'some day' though& hopefully can part with more.

Guilty! I make a mess when I'm sewing and clean up that mess when I'm done. The problem is that when we moved into this apt. my son and a friend were doing most of it and anything they weren't sure of they just put in the 2nd bedroom (which later got called my sewing room). It took quite a while for me to get everything back out of there and where it belonged. Only problem is because of health reasons I'm very far behind on repairs and they were even on the floor (I have them in a couple of boxes). I have now finally go t some done so I can actually walk into the sewing room without trying to make a path! (maybe my hubby and I should switch and we use the sewing room and put my sewing room in the master bedroom - lol). I keep rearranging and that keeps giving me a touch more room to put things away - so hopefully when I want something I can find it.

Oh, yes, I am also a bit of a hoarder - I can't throw things away that I think I might possibly have a use for.

Sometimes when i watch the show about Hoarding i ask myself Am I one of them? I do have lots of fabrics and laces and paints, brushes, buttons lots of craft supply everything is in the closets not outside like i see in the show, i keep organizing, and disorganizing all the same time, Last time it took me a week to organize everything, and now I have to do it again, I do not have enough shelves so i have to put everyhting one on top of other, when i get something from the bottom well my neet closet goes back to be the messy closet !!!!! LOL

I am a hoarder of everything. I just can't throw things away. So, I have now been spending valuable embroidery time to clear up my hoarded stuff and putting it in boxes so that I can , at last, hopefully, get buildincupboards to store everything in. Good luck with cleaning. I felt really good when everything was put into the boxes so that I could see what I have and have new space that I did not know I still had LOL ****

Once I start pulling fabrics out...the room falls apart. Sometimes I get my folding laundry rack just to drape possible fabrics, that I might use...that helps a little rather then heaping them up on every clear service. Also my husband love to put random things on my one clear table LOL He figures he doesn't know what to do with them so maybe I will.....I love my girl cave

I have to pick up after every project or it gets to where I can't move for the clutter. I'm really bad about not putting the thread back where it belongs when I'm through with a color... I'm a messy crafter!

If you clean it up, you will not find anything. I found out it is better to leave unfinished projects out facing you until you finish them. I will admit that I am a pack rat with my sewing notions and fabric. Ever so often. I purge myself of old patterns and fabric. but it is hard to do. Good luck. Kay

A clean sewing room?! Is that even possible? Periodically I can't stand it anymore and clean, clean, clean. But otherwise, my days just hum along with my sewing and embroidery machines. :)

A messy room is a sign of creativity. If it were clean I would think you never went in there. We all have messy rooms. We are all creative.!! Suzanne

After each big project I do a big tidy. It does not work with small projects. They seem to make more mess and I don't tidy because the next thing is waiting!

I am redoing my sewingroom, which is a large extra livingroom, that I don't need anymore because I'm alone. My daughter is putting in a scrapebooking area at the other end of the room, so she is helping me move, because I'm not moving fast enough! Anyway, My grandson said he's going to turn me in as a Hoarded. I told him "Its crafting, big difference". Ha1Ha!

My fabrics are stored in one location, and my sewing machines get covered up at night. But I have such a tiny space that I just have to move stuff from one horizontal surface to another when I'm working. I try to pick up as I'm going because that is the only way that I have any work around room at all.

Well luckily it does not take a whole day to clean up. I can't work in a messy room sew I do have to put the fabric back on the shelves and straighten up a bit before I start a new project. I wish I could keep my whole house as nice as my sewing room looks. LOL
