Make something! Find out all the local museums and hands on places kids like, especially the free ones. Are there any outdoor places to go have fun? If you can have a weiner roast with s'mores. Teach them your hobbies, your work and what you enjoy doing. Give them lots of materials and let them experiment. That was one of the best things my Grandma ever did for me :-)

Thanks for all the great ideas. I'll let you know how it goes. They come in June. Plenty of time to plan.

I was going to say much the same.... well for the grandaughter anyway.... teach her to sew - she'll be forever grateful & is the perfect age to learn.

The grandson? hmmm... is OH able to teach him a hobby too?

Teach the grandson to sew too :-)

Oddly enough the grandson likes the sewing more than the grandaughter. Go figuere.

I used to have my grands for Spring break a lot - of course we had a place at the beach, and we went there to enjoy the sand and water - but they loved the putput golf and water parks. Being that age they may like to learn to make themselves something. Do they had Ipod, or games? They would like to do a carrier for them, I bet. Have fun. My grands are almost all grown, and I miss the times I was able to spend with them.

Why don't you get a simple shorts pattern and let them make a pair of elastic waist shorts. Every child should know how to sew and what better teacher than Grandma!

I think that is an excellent idea. Thanks, I'll give it a try.

My first question would be where and when. I presume its a school holiday so knowing where I live there are loads of activities put on, some of which are interesting others not. Think I would ask the children themselves as they are old enough to have ideas.

It is in June when school lets out for the summer. We are in Georgia USA. They like to swim but I am limited to how much time I can spend in the sun. My grandson wants to play monopoly. We do that every time we are together. No one else will play with him. So sad. Thanks for ideas.
