How times change and yet remain the same. My husband's niece told her mom (our SIL) she didn't want any homemade hand knitted things for her expected twins(they are now 5)and here's your GD the next generation wanting gtrandma's knitted things! I did a hand knitted blankie for my GD (now 7 months), all pastel baby shades in cable panels with white narrow cable strips separating the colours. My son absolutely loved it, said it's so warm he and his wife used it on their bed! So now in between the embroidery I am trying to make a blanket for them. Hugs Elizabeth
This is showing us that world is changing. I can recall when I was in the 1 st grade (6-7 years old) that we learned some cross- sewing , a bit crochet, and even in high school we learned to knitt and even a bit of sewing. My sis hated knitting, but loved crochet. For me it was just the contrary, so whe did eachothers homework.
My daughter (16 years) didn't had any explanation about it so far..
But your gd is very clever by saying you should start now.
I love to knit and especially baby things, but its my great wish to learn to crochet, i can do the basic stitch but i cant make a garment or do shaping. I really mean to learn this year.
Love it! What kids don't think of! My grandkids (the two oldest are now 20 & 21) still come to me when they want something made or fixed (sometimes even nothing to do with sewing!).
I have a collection in my 'Top cupboard' for just this reason.
I love to knit and crochet and still have a large 'yarnbarn' to last some lifetimes.
you know in my day we learned in Grade 5 at school how to knitt and crochett.I have always loved both
Thanks for your cute story but one day she will learn hugs carolyn
Hehehe! Well, she may not want to know how to do it now - but maybe later on - you might catch her and she will want to learn. I wished I had someone to teach me.
When looking for Knitting on the Internet I came across lovely beginner step=by =step I printed for my DD and DIL. I packaged up spare needles and yarn.
Smart girl she is! Much better to have Gramma do it! Still you can remind her that she is gonna be a gramma one day and probably should learn! LLDS!
