Today is a happy and sad day for me. I am happy for my eldest daughter, her husband and their 3 year old twins as they are leaving for their much planned adventure. They are spending 6 months in Italy. They have been saving for nearly 2 years. I am sad because although we live many miles apart here in South Africa - she is here a phone call away. They have been extremely lucky to have both their jobs held for them while they are away. I am also lucky because next month I go to Italy to see them in their "new surroundings". They fly out tonight. I wish them much love, a safe journey and a wonderful adventure. Sarah.

Thank you all for your kind comments. I have heard from them all ready. They had a good flight, twins slept the whole journey. Yes, I use Skype a lot so it will really come in useful now. Hugs and flowers. Sarah.

Sarah, I can understand how you feel. At least these days there is Skype and internet and you will not be completely cut off- although all that doesn't help your worried heart tonight. I'll say a little prayer for you as you hug them extra tight.;)

I am feeling the pangs of potential empty nest. It is a bit scary. I know I will get used to it once it really happens. Then time will fly by and they will be home again! And you have US!

This is an amazing opportunity for them and the little ones. Six months isn't too terribly long to be away and it will go fast for them and while your there for a visit you could set up some internet chat (AOL, Skype etc.) Wishing them a safe trip.

It will be a wonderful experience for them and you will be joining them soon. 6 month will fly by and before you know they are back.

I'm sure this will be a wonderful adventure for them and you will get to go to Italy too, if just for a bit. Hope they have a great time and come back with lots of great stories!
