My beloved cat Rubi has left me two years ago, she was old 19 years.
I was very sad.
Now I have a poodle toy, Kira, and I'm very happy!!!
I don't forget, ever, my Rubi....

Did your cat go off to die? Sometimes cats do that. My favorite cat I got from my first grade teacher and died while I was a freshman in college 13 years later. I remember my mother hated to write that letter.

epic by epic 15 May 2008

No, she is dead in the home, to the evening she was alive (she suffered, she was ill) to the morning later she was dead.
I have not told to my daughter (she was 4 years old) immediately.I hoped that the poodle could help to forget her.She love a lot the poodle but when she discovers Rubi is dead she has cried much, so much Every day she says:"I feel the lack of Ruby!" I'm very sad when she says this.

katy being a person who generally cares more for animals than people I can truly feel your pain. I've been hurt in my heart so many times by our 'human' friends that when you get the conditional love a pet there is nothing that can compare. There is a wonderful poem that will help heal your heart. It will make you cry but I think you'll feel much better after, please go to www.petloss.com/poems/maingrp/rainbow.htm I hope this will help and we are all here for you.

I just read it and I'm on my third tissue. I'm not sure I was ready for it. I also read "heaven's doggy door" on the same site. It was easier for me and meant something too! thank you for thinking about.

This is a hard thing to do, I've held quite a few as they cross over. I'm so sorry for you. Our pets hold such a place in our hearts, don't they? Ask so little but give so much. AllI can give you is a flower.

22 years. Oh my! Modern day meds, I guess. You know when we were children, pet didn't live that long. I don't have the heart to add up my vet bills.

I have taken 4 dogs in to be put to sleep over the years. I decided to stay with Jessie until the end to help finalize everything. I think it helped. It was peaceful.

I know it's sorrowful to lose what u love katy, but U did the right thing, U wouldn't want her to suffer when U can do something about it. My aunt buried her kitty of 17 yrs. & planted a rose there in her garden & placed a statue of St. Francis of Assissi there in memory of her. She has pictures as I'm sure U do & talks of the sweet things she did. Your memories will always b there 4 U. *4U

There are no words to console us when we lose a loved one and though some people can never understand how much "WE" love our four legged babies, some of us do. I pray that time and precious memories will help ease the pain of your loss. My heart aches for you. Meg

I only lived with my husband for 24 years and probably got over him faster. I guess that sounds bad. Even my daughter said I seemed happier after the divorce. thanks for caring.

Oh Katy - I am so sorry for your loss. My husband is a veterinarian and I worked in the office with him for 11 years, so I was there for many of our patients and clients when that time came. If I could I would give you a heart felt hug!!! It is such a tough decision - but a loving one!! Take care and remember good times not the last few weeks. Hugs and Luv sent your way. *4U sue

She had been in declining health for a while but was able to get around. go out the doggie door and eat o.k..Thursday night, she seemed to have a stroke and I didn't think she would make the night. Friday morning I discovered she couldn't stand so I called the vets' office and took her in. I knew it was the right to do. I was quick and peaceful.
