OMG. I would matching furniture in my sewing room, not just the odds & ends from around the house, BUT have you seen the prices for a "sewing" desk. I could buy a new machine for that money. What furniture do you use???xx

I have 2 four foot tables from Sams. I can got 2 machines on each and it works out fine. I have an island by husband had built years age with 3 drawers and plenty of room underneath plus I have all my thread on my wall with the thread holders and a rubermaid cabinet with 5 shelves that holds my material and stabelizers.I like finding things when I get ready to sew or embroisery. I don't like to hunt for anything for I will lose interest and go do something else. Works out for me. I have my computer on my island and it leaves room for cutting out projects or one of my tables. Ladies! Do you have Ikea stores nearby? Years ago we first equipped my husband's home office with Ikea kitchen furniture - very "strong", many individual sizes, not expensive when you use the economic white surfaces and drawers. After a while we equipped my working space with Ikea kitchen furniture as well - also we used some furniture for our childrens rooms. It not at all looks like kitchen interior and you can built big working tables with drawers underneath. I'll do a picture tomorrow (not it's late and I am tired, just came back from a friend's wedding party). :-))

I use the big 8x4 feet tables where the legs fold up or you can adjust the height. My computer, printer, etc are on that.
I have an 8x4 foot table across the room and my Viking sewing machine and White serger are on that along with my thread racks on the wall. On that table are two large boxes with little drawers (the kind you usually see in a garage with screws, nails, etc in them. They work fine for needles, bobbins, buttons, pins, etc etc.
At the end of that is a 6x4 foot table where I keep all my emb. threads, etc and design albums. At a right angle to that is another 6x4 foot table with my emb machine and a thread rack where I put the spools that I am going to use for the design I'm sewing out. Under all these tables are the plastic bins with drawers (got mine on sale at K-Mart) I have 6 of those. The only real furniture in my craft area is a wide three drawer chest that holds all my jewelry making supplies and a tall cupboard type cabinet that holds all my fabric, inter facings, and etc. You don't have to have a state of the art sewing room. All these items were inexpensive and serve the purpose very well.

I have mismatched office desk tops that I have had my husband to cut to fit. I also purchased one of the cube walls as my design board. I have about $50 in all of it but I do have it set up the way I want it and I love my "little nut hut" that's what my husband calls it. It's my place to go to keep from going nuts!

I have a plastic banquet type table (longer and skinnier than a standard 6' table to fit the space I had) that has my embrodery machine and my laptop. Under it are two plastic drawer sets for my threads. I don't have a lot of space and this works out just right for me. My sewing machine is in the family room. My cutting table is the kitchen counter. Would be nice to have a bigger space for my "stuff" but we just don't have the room.

I added a wooden door and placed a tredle stand at each end.Instant sewing table.I anchored door and I had painted the stands a pretty green.I have peace and quiet(don't like noise as I sew)and I am VERY happy.

We bought 4 Ikea shelving units with baskets to put my material in. We put a table top on top of one of the shelving to make my sewing table. I made a ironing cover for one of the units. The other 2 units have my serger and my janome 350.

It is called shabby chic. People strive for that look. It is in fashion. We all have it in our sewing rooms. My hubby just built me wall units after all these years of sewing to organize my room. Beautiful. I use my old machine cabinet and place my emb. machine on top. Hey as log as you can be creative who cares. Have fun.... Suzanne

I have a solid old timber office desk I purchased second hand from an Op shop about 20 years ago and a Horn (Koala for you American gals) sewing cabinet that we purchased (also second hand) about 5 years ago.
Then when we bought this new house the previous owner left me his deceased wife's partner's desk (she was a Barrister) I felt truly honoured to receive this lovely old solid timber desk, it is HUGE.
Then for storage (and to act as dividing walls) I have a motley lot of old wardrobes from Ray's mother's house, plus a couple of display cabinets, old lowline buffet cabinets and a chest of drawers.

My sewing area is a real hodge podge and I have trouble finding my tools as they seem to be everywhere but where I thought I stored them. LOL!!!

In time Ray will line the walls, put in some external windows,, (there aren't any at the moment), build proper dividing walls and a doorway with a door (:-)) and build my storage and display cabinets to suit my needs. But Rome wasn't built in a day and we can only do things as money is available.
So in the meantime I have to work in the clutter, hence I get very little sewing done, I much prefer to sit upstairs at my laptop and digitise.

I have an old kitchen worktop resting on 2 filing cupboards. It gives lots of work space (if I do not clutter it up)

Such an interesting question and I love the answers. Seems that we are all happy with our own little set up. Posting a picture of my 'sewing corner'. Hugs Sarah.

I can't afford a sewing desk, so I've got a pic of a sewing desk , took it to our local hardware/wood store and they made one for me for much less then the ones that you get in the stores around here. Hugs Marie

I have an L shaped computer desk for one of my embroidery machines and a sewing machine and serger. Then I have a sewing table with drawers that I have had for years and years. I bought it new many years ago. On that I have another machine. I have a large table I bought from a sewing place that went out of business (use that for cutting) I have 2 desk lamps for the machines.

I have an "L" shape computer desk that I use for my embroidery machine and the other side for my regular sewing (one day it will hold a serger, I hope) it is very handy since I got rid of the OLD computer and now use my laptop...and a friend just send me a great lamp for sewing for Christmas, so I have plenty of light in the room.

My neighbor redid her kitchen so I snaged a section with two doors and two drawers (free!). I can stand and watch or sit on a bar stool. It's wide enough for my machine and my computer. On another wall in front of the window I have a computer desk (goodwill) with my regular sewing machine. Then I have my grandmothers cedar chest for storage and a 1940's tv that was gutted and turned into a glass case. I have my mothers rocking chair that was used for me and is date stamped just months before I was born. I think its the best seat in the house. I also have a wood trashcan that my mom made. My special place is very special.

I'm afraid I have bits and pieces. I have a cupboard and desk with new white tops. They are apart and hubby made a draw(to my design)to fit under the white top. I keep threads in this. This gap allows me to sit at the sewing machine. I have a white cutting table and a white linen cupboard, so it king of matches. On the other side of the room I have 2 computer desks wich are a home to my other machines.

I am very blessed. My handsome hubby made both my sewing and my serger tables for me. But don't be jealous. I have mismatched chairs and plastic shelving units in the room.
