Hi Modo, I am delighted to report that Embird will print out all the information broken down by colours, percentage each colour is (of the total design) and actual thread length required for each colour. Then it gives a total for the upper thread and separate total of the bobbin thread, and it will let you print it. AMAZING! I must check my other software and see what it gives for this. Chances are most embroidery software has the feature we just have to know to look for it. So have you checked your software? hugs n roses, M
Hello modo, I found this guide at Embroidery Library. It helped me figure out if I had enough thread for a design knowing how many stitches it had. Hope this helps http://www.emblibrary.com/el/elpr... scroll down to estimating thread needed. Good Luck and a flower for U!
You all are too complicated for me, but I love you any way.
Thanks for asking modo! I have always wondered about this but didn't think (hahaha) anyone would know. Of course, someone here did. :) :) I have gotten by so far but there were times when it was too close for comfort and at midnight its not the time to go shopping. ********4U
That is so helpful! I have always just "by guess and golly". Flower for you!
modo, I have a chart that I use: Guessing how much thread I need:
1 King Cone = 11,000 yds/10,058m* = 1,999,998 stitches**
1 King Cone = 10,000 yds/9,150m = 1,818,180 stitches
1 King Spool = 5,500 yds/5,000m = 1,000,000 stitches
1 King Spool = 3,250 yds/2,972m = 590,908 stitches
1 King Spool = 3,000 yds/2,740m = 545,454 stitches
1 King Spool = 2,500 yds/2,285m = 454,545 stitches
1 Mini-King Spool = 1,100 yds/1,000m = 200,000 stitches
1 Mini-King Spool = 1,000 yds/909m = 181,818 stitches
1 Mini-King Spool = 700 yds/694m = 127,272 stitches
1 Mini-King Spool = 500 yds/455m = 90,909 stitches
1 Mini-King Spool = 400 yds/364m = 72,727 stitches
1 Spool = 330 yds/300m = 60,000 stitches
1 Spool = 250 yds/227m = 45,455 stitches
1 Spool = 200 yds/182m = 36,363 stitches
1 Spool = 100 yds/91m = 18,182 stitches
*Based on .909m per 1yd
**Based on 181.818 stitches per yd
It of coarse didn't come up in the format that I have it on my computer, because of space limitations here. *4U
If you copy and paste to a word document, you can then go in and just do a return after each and you have you chart.
what id did n beginning when I embr. a design looked a nr of stitches & noted how much thread it took. Now It 's pretty much n my head when I do a computerized sew-out I can guess fairly well at how much thread I'll need 4 ea. color. I know this isn't much help to U but that's how I do it. *4U
