Have you seen this video about thread from Bob Purcell? Something to think about when organizing your thread area.

Thanks for the info. I keep my sewing thread in plastic drawers & my embroidery at least most of it in a wooden cabinet with drawers from Metro.. I guess I am okay.

Yes I love the Superior Thread Site.

I keep most of my threads in Enviro tubes, available from Shopper's Rule. This protects them from infra-red, sunlight, dust and temperature extremes, each thread is easily visible and hubby made me racks to store the Enviro tubes.

The rest of my threads are, and always have been, kept in drawers. I rarely have any problems using my older threads.

Thread color is such an inspiration to me. I have plastic bins for most of it& some sewing thread away from direct sun on a lovely wooden thread holder my dear husband made. Thanks for the site info.:~D

Guess I'm not so bad after all...mine's on pegboard on a wall that does not get direct sun and each spool has a plastic wrap to keep off the dust. It just looks so pretty. I felt guilty it wasn't in bins, I'm not feeling that way anymore. :)

Thank you. This man says it all. My thread is 5 years old and still going strong. It is kept in drawers away from light and sunlight.

I keep my embroidery thread in plastic containers and my quilting thread in a dark covered contrainer. Guess I need to re-think the embroidery thread.
