Whatever you decide, I would consider buying from a local reputable dealer with a warranty and lessons...even used, some dealers will warranty parts and service like it was a new machine. If E-bay, make sure you get Paypal protection...

I forgot to mention, Baby Lock has a sweet machine with a cabinet for about that price which does both Embroidery and Sewing...but I think of only has a 4x4 frame...

I have a Brother PE750D for sale, if interested send me a PM. This is just an embroidery machine only, if that is what you are looking for. If you are looking for a sewing machine only I highly suggest a good Kenmore from sears. They are quiet and well built, plus you have local service with it.

Have you looked at your local dealers to see what they may have in a used machine? Lots of times they have some pretty good deals and include a bit of a warranty too.

I would look at E-Bay. Look at the rating of the person selling it and if possible one that is not too far so you can collect in person and see it demonstrated.
Pay Paypal if posted so you will have protection.

Go with the singer futura SES 2000 i have one and it works great. you just have to know how to work on sewing machines to keep it up by that i mean the bobbin has some quirks where you have to go in and clean it out but other than that works just great for a first embroidery machine. hope this helps

singer has some multifunction machines for a fair price. there are those that just love this brand.

Well i live in Ontario and i got my BROTHER FOR THAT BUT IT IS ONLY AN EMBRODERY MACHINE HE DON'T SEW HUGS CAROLYN

Ebay is my suggestion.y Berrnina 180 there and have had no trouble with iit in 10 years. Pay with PayPal for further protection.

I have a Bernina 185E. I loved it so much that I traded my 170 in on a 730E. The 730 E is my baby. I do not know how much a 730 is priced used but it does so much more than than the 185E. Both stitch wonderfully, just more features on the 730E. Both have the small , the 5x7, the 8x10 and the mega hoop (400mm x 150mm)can be purchased separately. both machines read the cards and the designs can be sent directly from the computer to the machine using a cable. The 730E also has the use of USB stick. So many have bought the new Bernina 830 and have traded in an older model that looking at the gently used a dearly loved previous owned makes sense and save a bunch. Do try to buy machine that has a lager hoop than a 4x4 and that has service that does not require shipping it off. Good luck sweetie!! Kay

I'm with you! I have a 730E and just LOVE it. I am drolling over the 830E. I can dream.... I had the the 185E and had a chance to sell it at a good price. That's how I got my 730.

Hi WELCOME to the cute family, brother is a good brand. Check on ebay.

Don't know of anything for that budget but if there is someone here will tell you,
