What a day yesterday. I was outside. Thank goodness my domestic worker was in. I just heard her shouting, "fire, fire" as I turned around I could see flames in my sewing room.

We managed to put it out. Oh what a mess. We worked the whole day sorting out the things and throwing away what could not be used.
Thank goodness non of my machines were damaged.
Then every thing had to be washed and the wall and the clip board had to be painted.
All is dry and will just have to put things back into its place today.
Hope today is a better day.

Hugs Yvonne

Ohmygoodness, what a way to go about tidying up your sewing room! So glad none of you were hurt and your machines survived the experience as well. Maybe time to consider giving that smoking habit 'the flick'? Some just need the extra 'spur' to give them a reason :) Your lives, machines and even fabric are all precious, and think of the extra fabric you could buy with what the cigarettes cost! Hope the pong is gone fast.

Wow! I'm glad you are all okay! My sewing room is a fire hazzard - good thing I don't smoke. I'm going to take this as a warning and tidy up after all my last minute projects and wrappings! There are bits of wrapping and stabilizer everywhere!

What an awful thing to happen, but at least everyone is ok and your machines were not damaged. If it was your lighter, that's unusual, but does happen. Maybe in future take the lighter with you and light up outside and then you know the lighter is out. Again, glad you and your domestic worker are OK.

Well now I check that the lighter is out and away from the packet of smokes. As for the smell, had all the doors and windows open. Used almost half a bottle of Airoma "anti tobacco" 3 in 1 (Fragrances,Neutralises Odours and Disinfects) It worked like a bomb, there is no more smell of a fire or smoke in the room or house.

Thanks for all your concerns

Hugs Yvonne

What bad news.. Indeed lucky someone was in your house. Nevetheless afterwards it is always a mess. Everywhere such a bad smell. I can recall that we once almost had a fire 'cos of my toaster and the smell stayed in the apartement for weeks. Lucky your machines are ok. these are quite expensive if you had to buy them again.

Maybe it's time to rethink smoking? Someone trying to tell you something? I know, don't want to hear it, neither did I till way after I quit, lol! 17 3/4 years now and I am so glad I did it.
Glad your machines made it fine and all was able to be fixed back up. My whole house needs burned down and start over!

Hi Sally, I was on my way outside for a smoke, lite the smoke and walked outside. All that I can think of is that the lighter was still burning. When I put it down on my desk on top of the packet of smokes as the box was all burned.
Well from now I will keep it in the Kitchen.

You were both really brave going in to put the fire out, lucky neither of you got hurt and your machines are undamaged, it could have ended up quite differently.
